Hagerty now not offering track day cover...

AON/Footman James are still giving me five free days on renewal from end of this month....phew![:D]

I spoke to Hegerty who confirmed what everyone has said as above. I told them that they would lose my business, unless they could offer the same service from another underwriter. They said that if enough clients requested it, it might be considered.

Just renewed mine with Peart for £425 which includes 5 free trackdays and 3000 miles, value £48000 although they only pay out on market rate, whatever that is today.

Melv,

Do you have a contact name/number of somebody sensible - I called them cold the other day and some chimp said they don't cover porsches!

Ian

Footman James Specialist vehicles division (my insurers) can be contacted on 0845 458 6792, I usually speak to Margaret, who I have found helpful in the past.

Good luck!

I tried footman james today. got put through to a diferent department as I only hve one car (margaret is in multi-car cover) and they said no trackday cover for my car! (underwriter is sun alliance?) so a no go. Peart (via classicline are offering 5 free trackdays with a £2500 excess.

is £2500 normal for a C4 valued at £15K on track?

My lot quote 10% of value of car excess, £2500 may be a min., but frankly they can charge what they like!

It is unlikely thet FJ/RSA will cover new clients for trackdays -apparently I'm in with 'grandfather' rights......i.e. previous client of AON and before them Hogg Robinson since '94.

I spoke to Lancaster Insurance on Sat at Silverstone, and apparently they do track day cover on some of their policies..........they advertize in PP.

Mel,
thanks for the response. I will try lancaster, and I guess £2500 is still better than £15k if I write it off on track..but good to know 10% may be possible.

cheers

martin

Just renewed today with Lockton. I've been with AON for the past thirteen years, using their classic team in Surrey. Following the Footman James takeover, AON in Surrey was closed and with it went the client care, knowledge and understanding. Footman James are well versed in insuring Morris Minors but not the more valuable stuff and their client care, or rather lack of it, meant that I looked elsewhere. If the service is poor when you're renewing i.e. when you are giving them your hard earned cash, imagine what it'll be like when you have a claim!!!

Lockton have been excellent. I have a dedicated contact, all my cars are insured for the track even though most of them would never go near one, plus agreed valuations are not a problem and the premium very competitive.

Chubb is the underwriter. They have been going for a long time but concentrate on high value cars (they are insurers for the AMOC and FOC).

I assume the "please" was in invisible type?

I deal with Claire Manton, the switchboard number is 020 7933 0000.

I think that Aon has gone massively down hill since Footman James took over. Before you just rang your advisor, you got through straight away and they would sort things out. I recently found myself on hold for ages each time I rang and getting passed from pillar to post because they didn't really know what was going on.

I got that fed up I hung up and rang Peart. They are underwritten by Royal & Sun Alliance, so 5 free track days.
