Had a play

Excuse me for popping onto the 944 section. I like it too. Whilst you could improve it in Photoshop, I (also) like to get it right "in camera". Lighting is a major part, and this is good.
ORIGINAL: andy watson Very nice Edd, can you take another one....and sort out the sun-visor [:D]
And straighten the tax disc. [:D]

at photographing the 944. Its not perfect but you get the idea.

Ma-Mamiya that looks good (although I noticed the sun visor too). I'm getting into my photography but wouldn't know where to start in getting an image like that.

Erm, which part of 'its not perfect' did you not understand?[:D][:D][:)] Point taken, I never saw it tbo, may try and remove in PS. Edd

No-one likes a smart-arse! [:D][:D][:D] Great picture, was going to comment when you put it in your avatar yesterday but typing replies on the phone is too much hassle. Andy's comment reminds me of the car photography I used to do for Hertz, when they had a premium rental range. Every tax disc, dealer logo etc. had to be taken off, and woe betide the assistant who missed one! A sun visor down would have been a re-shoot then, not a couple of minutes in photoshop, and the only preview was a fuzzy polaroid, not a full-screen preview on a laptop. Happy days.....

What a fabulous photo. Just add the theme tune from BBC's "Grand Prix" coverage of F1: Fleetwood Mac - "The Chain" (theme starts 90 seconds in).

Nice image. I'd be inclined to lose the plumbing etc. from the top left hand corner, the reflection from the strip light top centre and the white arrow on the road. It would be interesting to see the same shot with the side lights on.

great pic, great thread, especially for those of us into cars and photography, keep the tips coming Glenn, very useful. Is "Autohaus Stuttgart" a dealer ? I've got the same number plate surround. regards

Looks very good indeed. One of the best 944 pics I have seen. Although I agree with Glenn - the white pipe in the top left corner is a bit distracting. Oli.

Demanding bunch aren't we.

I did take some with the lights on, but with a wider lens which looking at them now was a mistake. Edd

That is a great shot. I thought of the clean ups that have already been mentioned above and glad you did them. I would still loose the club sticker and tax disc off the screen. Clean up the tax disc reflection on the bonnet. And refections in the left wing, left wing mirror, the light reflection on the roof. To be honest you could loose the light altogether above the car and have it completely blacked out? This would then make it absolutely ready for publication in any quality magazine in my view. Note to self. Get off your arse and get the DSLR + 50mm f1.4 lens out the bag again!!

Still not convinced, can you make the car flamingo pink maybe that's what's missing! ;)

Thats a list to get started on. This is shot on film, I am not sure I would get the same deep blacks without blowing out the highlights with digital, unless of course you invest in a pro spec camera. I may re-scan this image, wet scans tend to retrieve more shadow detail, etc. The 120 negative gives me a 30 megapixel image at 2400dpi (Epson V750). Its a bit old school, but it works. Edd
