Goodyear Eagle F1 Tyres N0

Most of us use the approved tyres and so far I have used on my Gen1 the approved N rated Continental, Michelin and Bridgestone offerings since changing to the Gen2 I have only used the Michelin N2 Pilot Sports but before I came to Porsche Driving over twenty years ago I was something of Goodyear fan and used them on all of my cars.

The Goodyear Eagle F1 was approved for the Cayman Gen2 but I haven't heard anyone's opinion on it as a road tyre, as my rear tyres have a little under 1mm over the wear bars and the fronts about 2mm it may be a good point to change brands or not, has anyone used the Goodyear Eagle F1 N0 tyres on their Gen2?

I have them on my 968 cab, rears since last August and fronts since April, very happy with them, much better than the Dunlops they replaced.

I've used them in various sizes and a big fan. They always come out well in the various tyre tests, especially the annual EVO test.

They are particularly noted for their low noise levels and compliant ride characteristics, so they always get highly rated in the 'subjective' tests - much better than Pirelli, Michelin or Bridgestone.

They are available in some Porsche approved sizes, but I would fit them even if they weren't 'N' spec

I ran these for years on my subaru's they will be going on my 981 next awesome wet and dry tyre no where as much tyre noise as the pirellis and better wearing imho

My R was supplied with Goodyear Eagle N0 tyres when new, they are excellent road tyres in both wet and dry conditions. My car has covered some 13,000 road miles, the rears have ~3mm tread remaining so will need replacing in the Spring.

F1s on my 981 GTS. Suspect they might give a busier ride and be slightly noisier than the P Zeros I had on my 981 S.

I had them on a Focus Sport. Excellent tyres.

I fitted them on 964. No good whatsoever as a performance tyre. Depends on what you're expecting. Stick with Pirelli or Michelin. Or even Toyo for fun. []

Hi David, only just noticed that you have a Cayman R too. It's amazing how many of us 964 owners now have a CR. Says a lot about the car IMO! []

p.s. I've never tried the Eagles but highly recommend the Michelin supersports for both road and track fun. Unfortunately not N rated for those that prefer to stick to the letter.

l agree with 964RS had F1 Eagle Goodyears fitted to Spyder from new and rears were almost worn out at 8,000 miles. I replaced them with Michelin super sports a far superior tyre all round and rears have lasted 16,000, but still not N rated in my sizes even though Porsche developed this tyre with Ferrari & BMW. I will be replacing again with Michelin Super Sport.

mine has f1 and they are a nice tyre, I also ran SS on my last R but these good years are a fun tyre and nicer than the p zero option.

cheaper also.

prob now the best N rated gen 2 tyre.

I was going to throw mine away as I only ever run SS but I have enjoyed the F1 and will keep them.

You're right many former 64/64RS owners have moved on to Rs, whilst the R is one of the best road cars on the market right now in the 40-50k price bracket it's nowhere near as engaging the 64RS. Sadly Michelin Pilot Super Sports are not an option for me as I've extended the Porsche warranty until 2018.

So while most say they are excellent tyres the wear rates sound to be high which was what I found with the Continentals on my Gen1, nice handling characteristics but rapid wear.

It would be interesting to hear more reports on the wear rates and if users have had different wear rates on other tyres, whether drivers consider themselves to be hard drivers or not.

You can fit what you like now you have extended the warranty. They cannot refuse a claim unless they prove a tyre caused it which is impossible, it just stops you renewing in 2018.

got goodyear eagles fitted on my 981 boxster, they seem ok ,when I had my 987 boxster I was using continentals, and Michelins ,might stick with goodyears on 981

had a good price for them at local tyre place 19" front £170 rear £210 each, cost-co Michelins 19" front £150 rear £240 each
