Good specialists in Peterborough?

Can anyone recommend a quality specialist for my 944 in the Peterborough area? Am new to the 944, club and area so would welcome any advice.

Thanks in advance

Peter

TWG in Longthorpe are the local specialists. Some people on here have had good service from them. Unfortunately my experience was marred by the fact that I didn't think to check that the 'price' they quoted me for the work was inclusive of VAT, so I had a shock when I came to pay! The work (cam and timing belt) seems to have been done well though.

Whereabouts in Peterborough are you?

Can't add anything regards the specialist but would like to say welcome. And then there were four. If you need any advice or help eating your missus' lasagne then myself, Simon (simdel1) and Andy Hairyarse (also of Stamford) are always eager to help. As Simon says whereabouts are you? Oh and where are the pics!!!!! [:D]

'Tis true. Lasagne (or cottage pie, or any sort of food really) is the universal currency round here for getting work done! [:D]

Welcome Peter, I'm the chief lasagne eater in town [:D] (Not as handy as the others with a spanner though) Welcome to the forum and area, look forward to seeing some pics of your 944. Let us know if you need any help with anything

Andy

I can highly recommend Dove House Motors in Rushden.
Don't know if it's within distance for you but they would supply a non Porsche courtesy car to get you home & back again!!

No an Indi but the PC Cambridge has a good reputation!

Blimey - we now have more Porsche service garages in the area than cars[;)]

We should have a Peterborough area get together. Don't in the area myself any more, grew up in Sawtry, but my parents do, in fact I spotted a 944 parked up in a drive near Itter Park last time I was home.

I haven't used TWG but them been over for a chat, they seemed very friendly. I think I would certainly give them a go rather than mucking about travelling further afield, at least to start with.

Leicester Porsche centre very good with 944s,reduced labour rates for club members with older cars. They have a technician that specialises in more "Classic " cars.
Just another choice![:D]

I think they call that meeting Region 24 Cambs and Beds Mark - all welcome to join us at club nights beside the Great Ouse see

Always on the second Wednesday of each month - other events for our region also see Porsche Post.

John, would love to come along but I am never down there during the week, but I do keep an eye on your events in case anything happens to be on when we are visiting.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks very much for the comments and recommendations, will probably try TWG. Although at the moment I have a slight starting issue which I am beginning to suspect is an alarm/immobiliser problem. The plan for this is to get an auto electrician who has been recommended to me, to sort out - will let you know how I get on.

Pics I will have to get organised, but for the record the car is a standard red S2 convertible on a G plate.

Currently I am in Perterborough but will soon be moving round the corner to Stilton, so maybe difficult convincing wife to do Lasagne at least for the next couple of months. "new" house is in a real state, but happy to meet up for a shandy if anyone is up for it?

Will also try and get to the meets but said wife is often away with work mid-week so not always easy.

Hi Peter and welcome to the West Cambs Posse!

I have used TWG for the past 3 years and on the whole they have been very good, but the last time they felt a little uninterested.

Dove House is owned by a mate of mine and he poached 2 master techs from Silverstone when he started the service side of the business last year, so I might try them

We are about to move to the West of Huntingdon and I had a little look around at what dealerships were out there and found this one near Thrapston!

They seem to know their Porsches (and Range Rovers) too

Thanks for everyones comments. I am hoping to make it to the next meet which I think will be on the 11th, so hopefully will meet some of you there.

Cheers

Peter

PS: have tried to upload pics but given up in frustration!!![]
