Good drives

Just thought I'd start a thread for some ideas for recommended drives that people would be interested in doing as a region activity.

I was thinking that a good drive will hopefully allow us to spend max time on a selection of A/B roads, nice scenery, a good destination, and perhaps a good pub-style pitstop along the way for those longer journeys.

Being stuck in the centre of London during the weekdays gives me the constant itch for any quick blast out into the countryside!

Ideas/recommendations anyone?
 
I live in East London and one of my fave drives is out from the Woodford area, thru Epping and up and along the A414.

The A414 goes to and past Chelmsford, very scenic, good viz and not too many hidden turnings etc.

There was a thread about routes a few months ago, you might want to search for it!
