Glovebox stops broken

Last night I broke one of the glovebox retainers off, which wasn't too clever. Closer inspection shows that it's been fixed before, so I'm thinking of a more permanent repair.

Anyone any experience of these:

Does anybody import this stuff into the UK?

Alternatively if I knew of a machine shop nearby I am sure I could get something made up, but alas this is the county of the "Service Industry"!

Cheers

Hi James

I've got one broken, and got replacements from Design 911 or Porscheshop (can't remember which).....not done it yet because I've mentally added it to the heater linkage job which requires removal of the glovebox anyway.

I'm now fiddling with the headlining at the back of the roof so the glovebox jobs been bumped down the list.....

(BTW this is just one of many components on the car made of plastics in the brave '80s and where the plasticisers have gradually disappered leaving useless, brittle, components!!!)

You can get them from Type911 in Beckenham
here's the link

They don't seem as fancy as the rennline's, but they are stainless steel. Lot of money though?

Hope this helps

Also, there's a company in Hertfordshire that stock Rennline

www.coolcavaracing.com

They don't have the hinges on their site, but might be worth giving them a call/email

They look pretty much identical to the ones I have that are physically made by Ken at Prestige Parts in Devon.

Like a lot of sellers it looks Type911 are almost doubling the price that the manufacturer charges for them [][][]

Mine were circa £25 direct from Ken several years ago. I can't find his website anymore [&:] but he sells on Ebay now http://stores.shop.ebay.co.uk/Prestige-Parts

Worth contacting him for a reasonable price

Mine are broken too, James. They came with the car, in a plastic bag (along with the dividers for the centre box, designed to keep cassettes tidy!)

I keep on thinking about trying to fix them. I'd have thought a stainless steel plate could be used to repair the broken parts, with some self-tappers and some araldite. But, like so many other jobs, it's on the 'To Do' list ... !

Thanks for all the responses. I've now dropped a line to both Ken at Prestige via eBay and also the Rennline stockist in the UK to see what they come back with.

I'll let you know what the outcome is, price wise.

Cheers

James
