Geometry alignment

Where's the best place to get the geometry checked on my 997.1 3.6? I think GaryW mentioned a place that does alignment and suspension checks but I don't recall where it is or who they are. Thanks!

Yes, Chris's is the place I mentioned... mine went in a couple of weeks ago (after France- as he was fully booked until then)
I can say he's once again got my car feeling how it should.[8D]. It had been into the OPC for steering work, so I wanted it checking.

The OPC can check your car- many places can check and adjust your car- bu they normally only do it to the factory tolerances.. the tolerances are quite varied and do allow you to actually have the car drive in a way that you prefer to have..
Chris uses those tolerances to give you a car that you enjoy driving... many of the others just set and check it..
When mine went in, it was indeed in the green all round but different to how it had been set prior..
The fact that he and you drive the car during the settings and you only accept the car when your happy says a lot I beleive...

I hope to have a register visit in the next 12months, so everyone can get to see what can be done with a little time and effort to transform the feel of their cars.

You get less of it - especially on the rears![]

There are zero downsides to getting your geo sorted by CG.

Every UK delivered Porsche should be taken to Chris after a few thousand miles of suspension settling. Otherwise you aren't anywhere near maximizing your Porsche driving experience.

+1 million. My cars have been a joy to drive once Chris has set them up properly. Even when they're right in the centre of factory spec, they're nowhere near as good as Chris can achieve by settting them up to work with your driving style/ability.

Worth noting that the Bridgestones are known to have a stronger sidewall which will give a 'harder' ride.

Hi Alex - yes, good to meet you too. And your car which looks amazing with the HRE wheels. P40 monoblocs?

As expected, Chris did yet another superb job on my car.

For the benefit of everyone else here, I should explain that my car had been into my local OPC to have a new steering rack fitted. A problem with the hydraulics in the original meant that if you tiurned the steering a quarter turn to the left. it would stay there and the car would happily go round in circles all day with no input from the driver!

After fitting the rack, the OPC did a full 4-wheel alignment on the Hunter kit and gave me a printout to show that all the settings were 'factory perfect'. Until we put Chris's alignment gear on the car, that is! One front wheel had zero camber, the other 1 degree. The front toe was about 7' toe-in (4 times what the dealership claimed). One rear wheel had 7' toe-in the other 4' so the car turned left under acceleration. both rear cambers were in tolerance but at opposite ends of the allowable deviation from nominal. This is frankly scandalous. The car was truly horrible to drive with no front end grip, lots of bump-steer and unpredictable behaviour left-to-right and power-on to power-off.

Thankfully all is now back as it should be and the car drives superbly.

My thanks to Chris and Jayne once again. The best in the business.
