I have heard some good things about Center of Gravity but they are not too local to me in east London.

Is it really worth travelling 220 miles round trip or are there better / equivalent outfits in the London, East London, Herts, Essex area that are recommend?

Thanks,

Rob

Yes, it really is - I travel (a bit) further and it is always totally worth it. Try to spend the day with Chris while he's doing your car and you'll learn a lot about how the car responds to different setups so that as your driving requirements change, you will get to recognise where your current settings are holding you back and therefore what needs doing to the car the next time you go.

Rob,

Please dont laugh, this suggestion is a little unauthodox but you could try Derek Tansley at DT Trucks in Barking.
Derek set mine up for me a few months ago and transformed the car totally.

Whilst he isnt a Porche specialist - far from it, trucks are his main thing.
He does have all the equipment and knows ho to use it.
He does a lot with rally and motorsport teams.

Dave

His tel no is 020 8595 4400

Thanks for the heads up guys.

I have uses Pro-Tyre in Enfield on the A10 in the past and always seemed which good and have all the right gear, and was going to try A&S Wheels & Tyres in South Woodford who have done tyres for me as well - nice chaps.

I think I was looking for someone a bit more specialist on a 996 but might give Derek a call and see what he can do for me. Thanks for the recommendations so far!

Another recommendation here - been there twice since owning the 996 and it's worth the trip from Dorset!

Not a specialist but Tony at Wheels in Motion (based in Chesham) is a well known expert on geometry setup and may be able to to an excellent job on porsche. Search for his website.

I think there are indeed a lot of Geometry experts who can set the car up perfectly to the numbers... however I'd suggest that is not what Chris at CG is about..
He goes away from the numbers to settings that give you what you want from the car...

Yes it is. He will spend 6-7 hours doing your car, you will get a bacon sarny for lunch. Then he will take you out in your car for you to see the improvement. He will drive you down some country lanes . With me he was doing over 100 mph with no hands on steering wheel, doesn't matter though as cars not going anywhere . I felt sick when I got out actually, not used to being driven like that. Then you will drive , see what you think and drive round and round about until you loose grip. Good day out .

Hi Jamie,

Another great recomendation.

Lets see what a passenger I am in my own car.... [:'(]

Hi David,

I am heading up there this Saturday as well, from South Woodford for a 10am appointment. Probably head up the M11 from Redbridge roundabout or maybe through Epping Forest [;)] to the M25....

What time is yours / when are you leaving and from?
