Geman plates and yellow fogs

I've been wondering how my S2 woud look with a couple of small 'euro' style changes. I was thinking german pressed steel plates, possibly with german surrounds, and yellow tinted fogs/main beam units. It's got clear indicators and repeators at the mo so I'd maybe tint the indicators too. It's a dark blue (baltic?) car so I think the yellow would go well.

This is the only pic I could find of a 944 withh these mods and it's not a great pic, anybody got any more?

You can get yellow film to tint the lights so it's be easily reversible. I'd be a bit concerned about the plates because they are technically not legal. I'm not sure if it'd look odd on Uk plates with yelow lights though.
 
Its always a personal thing of course but as the plates are not legal I really couldn't be doing with the potential worry and hassle of being pulled over because of them, particularly as a 944 is going to stand out to the BiB rather more than a Mark 3 Golf which seems to be the most common car sporting them round my neck of the woods. I also suspect that the yellow lenses are not legal over here either - so guess it depends on how lucky you are feeling !
 
Yeah, the legality of the plates puts me off but quite a few people seem to run them without bother, I had also thought that the german plates may not be reflective like the UK ones. I'd hate to reduce the visibility of the car, either when I'm driving or when it's parked on the street.

I guess the ideal may be reflective plates with UK letters but in german style, ie 'D' on the left, and the small stickets in the middle (for tax and MOT I believe). I'll see what's avaiable. Anyone got any ics of 944s with yellow fogs?
 
Although I appreciate the german plates are slightly more handsome than our UK ones I really cant see why you would want to go to the bother of having them put on a uk spec car, they really wont make that much of a differance, will look a bit odd IMO and wont you get people asking if your German all the time?

Why not just get the Porsche german style plate holders and be happy that your car is not trying to be something it isnt and legal at the same time...

Its the font that makes them illegal, they are just as reflective though.

You could buy them with GB in the flag section instead of D that way you are displaying the correct country of origin, never had an issue with ones on my 924.
 
I've had German font plates on my wife's Smart for nearly a year with no problems. Kept UK spacing and left off the German plakets.

I am not a 20 year old chav into the VeeDub scene but I do quite like the 70's/80's retro/Euro style if done with taste and understated. Go for it, it may well end up being personal taste but nothing which costs too much and can be reversed if need be. Here's some inspiration

 
Been thinking of some German plates for a while now, into VW dubs also, 48 years old with 2 kids 2 dogs and 2 944's......people can think what they want, "think" being the operative word !
 
I like the german plates, in fact I was considering them for mine before I sold it. NOt sure about yellow fogs though. Are they not more French?

Yes but now part of the 'Euro' tuning scene adopted by the Germans on their 70's and 80's VW's, Audi's and Mercs.
