Gearbox stiff when cold?

Hello there. Does anyone find the 6 pseed gearbox on the " S" a little stiff in 1,2 & 3 when cold? Works very well when warmed up but my particular car is stiffer than I remember a couple of other Boxters I have driven to be

Any fixes out there that make it a little easier? Car is a MY 2001 Boxter S.

It is normal. Lasts about 5 to 7 miles from cold. I know of no fix for this.

Absolutely normal in my experience and more so in cold weather. A number of Boxster forums have raised this question so it appears you have a perfectly normal Boxster. I guess that the engineering tolerances were set up for normal engineering temperatures i.e. when the car is nicely warmed up.

My gearbox is still slightly notchy for a mile or so in the current heatwave.

This cold stiff shifting was quite noticable in my MY2000 S, but seems considerably less pronounced in my MY03, in fact the linkage is generally smoother and easier.

is this just found on the S. can' t say i' ve noticed it on my 2.7 2000 model.

The " S" uses the Porker 6 speed box (the 2.7 has a 5 speed box) I think it' s the same as used in the 996 & yes it' s always extra clonky untill warmed up, & the brakes also take a very firm shove untill they have heat in them !!!

I too have always thought that " Porker" was a rather inappropriate way to refer to our cherished vehicles. I' ve always been puzzled why owners do this...

I use ' porker' , in the way that I use nicknames as a sign of ' endearment' . What' s in a name ? Except officially, of course.

Porker is simply a term of endearment & it' s easier to type than PORSCHE, certainly doesn' t refer to weight, could also have " as good as sex" type overtones if you like !!

My 01 ' s' was a bit recalcitrant when cold,some are,some are not according to the people I spoke too.
My 03 ' s' is a vast improvement,lighter shift and more positive. Opc confirmed improvements but of course they can' t market a feature which reflects on the original.
