gearbox oil

I' m going to replace the oil in my gearbox hopefully to improve the change (915 box). Which one should I use and is there any problems I should know about.

we have to stop meeting like this!!!!!![]
I have found that there are a couple of other areas to look at to improve the gear change on a 915 box.
1/ The linkage bushes under the gear shift; replace them (x2)
2/ The linkage coupling in the tunnel in front of rear seats; check it; if sloppy replace (bert has these)
3/ While at the above (2), check the shift positioning; see Bentley manual or Pelican.
4/ check/re-new engine and gearbox mounts; yeah (I know) " how does that make any differance?" , - if the engine/box assembly moves too much this effects shift linkage.
5/ check the oil in the box.[:-]
If these all check ok; then it must be worn syncro' s on 2nd gear.

The box had a rebuild by autofarm about 35000 miles ago , so I' m hoping that it' s one of the cheaper options first. So gearbox oil here I come!!!!

Can concurr that even if theoretically incorrect for the G50, the Swepco 201 has improved the gear change of my 1988 3.2 significantly.... Good luck

Swepco is recomended for all gearboxes including LSD

I had slight baulking shifting up from 1st to 2nd when cold (1988 g50, 100000 miles). Replacing the existing (unknown brown) oil for Castrol Syntrax has improved the gear change all round.

What about slick 50 additive? Anyone tried this in their gearbox?

When I had my 3.2 Carrera with G50 box I changed the gearbox oil with Castrol Syntrax, much smoother changes.
