my 987.2 is due it's 12-year service and needs the gearbox oil change done. i have a few questions.
How many litres does it take?
What one is best to get and the best place? Please
The car has done just over 130000 is 0w40 Castrol any good?

Thanks

Assuming you have a manual ’box, you need an appropriate EP 75W-90 transmission oil Peter. Have a look at this thread:

I’m not sure about the quantity … 3.0L maybe?

The recommended engine oil is 0W-40, although some owners favour 5W-40 for older engines. About 7.5L are required.

Have a word with Opie Oils; they’re always very helpful and you should be able to get Club discount if you purchase from them.

Alternatively you could just get the job done by your local reputable Porsche Independent.

I used Castrol TRANSMAX 75W90, purchased from demon-tweeks, 4 x 1 litre bottles were about £15 each back in Nov 2021. Refill needs 3.2 litres.

Does the handbook not specify oil spec and quantity ?
Greenman, you are correct again, found in the Technical data section on the page labelled Capacities. When I checked I was surprised to see the the capacities for the 6 speed base and S models were different. 3.0L for the former and 3.2L for the S. I had always assumed that both gearboxes would be the same in all but ratios. Every day is a schoolday.
