Hi.
I bought a 2009 Cayenne S.
Lovely to drive but noticed that the gearbox does not go to D1 when I am at traffic lights....it was always stays at D2.
Is this normal??? I noticed that the VW goes to D1.
Can anyone please advise?
Thanks[8|]

It's supposed to be an economy thing, uses less fuel (or maybe emissions) that pulling away in 2nd.

If you push the accelerator further down when you pull away it will kick down to first. If the box is already in a faster shift programme it will select 1st when your speed gets low enough.

Also, if outside temperature goes low enough it will start in D1

Dont forget to put the gear box through all its options from time to time (in a empty car park or the likes) Low range Auto, low range manual using forwards and reverse etc etc.

Enjoy your ride [;)]

Cheers

My Cayenne is an 06 "S" on 126K does anyone ever have the gearbox fluid changed on theirs on the Porsche service shedule it's 160k!
That's a bit high ??

I have an 06 V10 Touareg Altitude, I'm Whispering as its mere mention seems to bring out the anti VW Gestapo. It says "Sealed for life" in my service book but I don't like the sound of that. Do they have a similar Gearbox in Cayennes. Mine always goes into 1st but my old 08 ML420 V8 always pulled away in second unless in Manual or Sport. Now that really was a pile of Sh#t. Broke down on the way home from the dealership.!!!

Hi,

Had ALL my vehicle fluids changed in September last year...before taking it across Germany. Do it now, don't wait till 160!!

My pig is so much more quieter, smooth...it's excellent. Thanks to the guys at D&G Porsche specialists. Who ever you pick to do the work, just make sure they use all porsche listed/recommended items and if not main dealer a reputable Porsche specialist.

Best of luck,

FP
