Gear linkage bushes

I'm sure this has been discussed on here before, if so my apologies. Just taken the gearbox out on the way to replacing the clutch. The gear change was always a bit sloppy, well it is 24 years old now! However I removed the "cross piece" for want of a better way of describing it and both bushes are badly worn with a lot of play. On examining the downloadable parts book, it shows all the bits, with part numbers, except the "cross piece" which is shown but with no part number! I'm sure I read on here some years ago about rebuild kits for this (seals, bushes etc ) and was hoping that someone out there might be able to enlighten me a bit. Thanks a lot.

You can buy replacements but they are very pricey for what they are. I manged to shear mine off when refitting to the gearbox when doing my clutch. At the gearbox [] I got a 2nd hand one from Elliot that was just fine. It is a common part to all transaxles. Of course it meant I had to drill and retap the gearbox, which was a right PITA. So don't go overtightening it when refitting. Didn't take much to shear it off!!!

Is the cross piece you are reffering to shown on here?

Think Rob may have got a bit mixed up.

The cross piece is not available separately but it is as a larger unit (I think for £100ish) not sure exactly what you get for that though!

You can improve things a lot using a section of drinks can as a shim in each cross hole! (I think less than £100)

Sorry may not have been clear Mike I was referring to the entire assy. And yes they are £100 plus, which is why I paid a visit to Elliot.

Yes, it's the bit between the seals, item 21, connects the selector arm from the lever to the gearbox selector arm.
I thought it might be part of a complete assembly, but I didn't know if maybe someone like Hartech did reconditioned parts at all. Otherwise if the option is to pay £100 then I'll open the holes out oversize and either fit DX bushes or get some turned up by a mate.

I'm not aware of any aftermarket re-con parts.

When I took mine apart most of the other bits were worn and grotty too.

Part 18 (944 424 013 02) encompases the full mechanism and cost me ~ £80 from Porsche last year.
