Fuel gauge problem

I just put 49 litres of petrol in my S2, as much as I dared...and the fuel gauge needle is still point at the 3/4 mark. How big is the S2's fuel tank supposed to bed? And has anyone seen this problem before?

Very odd...with the amount of petrol I put in, I'd expect it to registered as full on the gauge!

 
if the light was on ..then that would be about right..but if not then your sender is knackered.? thats right 75lts the tank..

The light wasn't on, it dropped below the 1/4 mark, but nowhere near the red section just yet.

The S2 has a 75-litre tank?! I guess that'd explain the perfect 50-50 distribution so often cited then! [:)]
 
It could be the sender, but it could be the gauge too. Condensation in the car can slowly degrade electrical connections.

On the back of the instrument panel there are four brass oval shaped nuts which hold the dials in place & provide an electrical connection to the PCB. Remove these (one at a time so the pod doesn't fall apart) & give them a polish to improve the conductivity.

It won't cost you anything & may solve the problem, it did for mine when I bought it.
 
yes mate I guess that'd explain the perfect 50-50 distribution.if you drive round with a full tank all the time..lol..

Neither of my 944's show full on the gauge when brimmed, I remember a discussion ages ago (possibly on Titanic) where this was proved to be pretty common. Mine don't read as low as 3/4 but probably closer to 7/8. But there's little as demoralising as emptying your wallet and the gauge still not registering as full!
 
mine reads 3/4 full on the guage when its full,however it reads correct as the fuel gets used so at least I know when its getting low[8|]
 
Mine drops with usage too so maybe it's not such a big problem...sounds like a common "feature" of 944s in any case. I'll polish the electrical contacts at the back but there are better things to spend money on than a gauge! [:)]
