Hi,
My wheels are painted Matt Black. Has any one painted theirs with a Silk/Shiny Black or with lacquer?
If so do they look good?

Mine were shiny black and I preferred them to the Matt ones - I' ve gone polished now. Don' t know how much you' ll be able to see here!

I painted mine Satin Black, using the flat version of Hammerite spray paint. I polish them whenever I polish the car, and they do look much better than matt wheels (no pics, so I would say that !)

I think that matt wheels look more dirty, even when clean - apart from which, I was told that the original wheels would have been painted in a satin-type finish, and this was the closest I could get.

Is there a difference between gloss and satin finish paint. Also do I need to use laquer on top?

Gloss is more shiny than satin, making satin a sort of ' halfway' between matt and gloss.
I know, these are vague terms, but when you consider that paint companies have shades of black and white, then it all gets a bit vague.

I didn' t laquer mine, as you don' t need it with Hammerite paint (they say). The fronts get paint chips occasionally, but I just touch up with one of those little pots with a brush, and all is well. You only notice if you stare closely at the wheel - a suspicious act in itself !

Nick at Early911 normally has some, and the odd pair or set on 4 come up from time to time on ebay.

Also look at Impact Bumpers (IB), DDK, etc forums.

I sourced my 9" Fuch from ebay Germany, got them at a good price compared to the UK.

A very good set of 7&9 - good upgrade for a narrow body 3.2 - are about £1.6k

7 & 9 are standard fitment on Turbos and turbo bodied (supersports) vehicles I believe

To fill out the arches some do use spacers, but this depends on what geo setting/ride you have/want

If you don't have spacers on the front of your supersport, the wheels will be miles in board.

Thanks could anyone recommend a company for refurb back to standard,have been looking at buying new but can only get hold of fronts no 16 inch rears available anywhere.

Canford Classics in Dorset do a tremendous job of refurbishing back to factory spec. including re-anodising - not everybody does that. Alternatively, if you fancy a change (polished or body coloured petals, for example) they can do that as well. Contact details in your 'Porsche file'

Try your local OPC, mine sourced a pair of 9 x 16 Fuchs, they were expensive but not as much as I have seen second hand ones go for.
Solihull was my local OPC.
