I think that matt wheels look more dirty, even when clean - apart from which, I was told that the original wheels would have been painted in a satin-type finish, and this was the closest I could get.

I know, these are vague terms, but when you consider that paint companies have shades of black and white, then it all gets a bit vague.
I didn' t laquer mine, as you don' t need it with Hammerite paint (they say). The fronts get paint chips occasionally, but I just touch up with one of those little pots with a brush, and all is well. You only notice if you stare closely at the wheel - a suspicious act in itself !

Also look at Impact Bumpers (IB), DDK, etc forums.
I sourced my 9" Fuch from ebay Germany, got them at a good price compared to the UK.
A very good set of 7&9 - good upgrade for a narrow body 3.2 - are about ÂŁ1.6k
