Front Wishbones

It is meant to come off, but at £11 for a new wishbone from GSF, I personally wouldn't bother....[;)]
 
I hadn't even looked at GSF for bits not used them for years, since my old bug was off the road. I'll get the grinder out but if not 100% happy with results order a pair. thanks very much!
 
Just trying to replace the bushes on the front Wishbone on my 8V steel wishbone car but am slightly confused?
Having taken the wishbone off I find what appears to be the steel sleeve of the rubber bush totally fixed to the pivot on the rear of the wishbone. I've tried heating oiling etc.. but it's solid.
The reason for this post is before I do something drastic, is this sleeve meant to come off?
I presume that it is and my next move is very delicate grinding to split it.

I also found that I had one 23mm arb bush and one different make with an internal diameter greater than 25mm? no wonder there was a little play!!

I think you'll find that the metal bush has been rusted on so long that the pin will be deeply pitted and by the time you clean it all up it may well be a little undersized - so a new bush will go on easily (too easily)...
 
unless your car is a 1986 of course [;)] in which case the bushes are part of the wishbone and are not (meant) to be replaced. James
 
I can confirm it's the earlier type. But would you believe the pivots aren't rusty at all!!!? The joint was totally dry and seized on both. Also the ball joint on either wishbone seems really good which I wasn't expecting. My new problem is how on earth do you fit the new bush in the arb alloy bracket!!! I bought powerflex bushes and can see no way of fitting the end arb ones?
 
Nor could I, on my old square dash. I suspect they supply the later type, as I can now see how they would fit my 2.7
