Front o/s indicators not working

I'm furiously working on my car in order to pass an MOT for the Sunday Rutland meet. Most things that I can check (lights, wipers etc) are now sorted. Everything seems OK apart from the front bumper and wing o/s indicators, the rears and the n/s work fine. You might remember that I have had the front bumper and wing off the car whilst it stayed at the useless bodyshop and I am assuming that something was not reconnected correctly when it was put back together. I haven't even had a look yet, I only discovered this on my late evening run - the first in a year! - to get petrol (77 litres!) but I wondered if anyone can advise me where the connection to these flashers is so that I can start with the most obvious places to look.

Can't help much, but I presume you have done the logical checking of the bulb and whatnot?

Be systematic ... check it's not a bad connection on the back of the bulb, check the wiring, work your way back as necessary. The fact that the other lamps on the circuit work means it is unlikely to be a big fault, but could be fiddly to find.

Oli.

The front indicators are on a separate fuse from the rears, so I think there is 4 fuses in total for your indicators. Check them out first. [;)]

I had a similar problem - one front indicator stopped working from one day to the next - I could tell by the way the inside flasher was going double speed on one side. Anyway - simply a little corrosion between the bulb and the holder - apparently my lens leaks a little water when using the high pressure wash in just the right position. Remove the bulb and a quick rub up with WD40 on both bulb and socket cleared up the trouble.

Sorry - didn't read well the first time - if you have two on the same circuit then is probably a fuse or perhaps a ground (or perhaps corrosion interfering with the ground[:)]

The manual shows wires come out of the loom in separate places, and as Stuart says they are both on the same fuse - probably 32.

Trying hard to get you to Rutland in it[:D]

Thanks Mike, and others, I appreciate the push for Rutland - only one more hurdle to jump now! It failed the MOT today on headlight alignment and the non working indicator, only the front this time as the side one started working. I took the front lens off and the bulb mount had corroded, in order to repair it I had to take the whole unit out (it was masticked in place) now I have fixed it I dont know how to reconnect it?

The indicator unit has a black cable out the back that has a connector to plug into something behind in the bumper but I can't see how to get it plugged back in? I was gong to remove the fog/driving light combo but that is also masticked in place and I don't want to go to that effort if it won't get me any further ahead. Is access through the wheel arch liner a better idea?
