Front Bonnet Release

On our recent tour of Scotland I attempted to open the front boot using the release button on the door sill. Heart stopped as it failed to open and most of our clothes were in the front boot. Happily the front boot release on the key worked. The door sill release button feels loose. After about 6 attempts the release button did open the front boot but it then failed to function again. It seems to work once in every 6/7 attempts. Could it be a bit of plastic has broken off the switch? The rear boot release button is working normally. This is my 5 Boxster (2011 model) over the past 21 years and have never had this problem before. Any ideas or advice gratefully accepted.
 
My 987.2 did the same as yours.
Swopped the switch over for one off ebay, about £20 iirc and 30 minutes later all works well and still does months later.
The switch contacts in the simple/crude switch are very small and prone to corrosion or similar.
New is the way to go.
