Friends, Romans, Countrymen, lend me your wheels! (Near East London)

Chaps,

Further to this thread here:

https://www.porscheclubgb.com/forum/tm.asp?m=880637

... I need to find a set of late-offset wheels to try on my car as a controlled experiment. Would anyone who is not a million miles away from E3 (East London) be able to help me out? The ideal would be someone who has a spare set, with legal tyres, ready-balanced in their shed that I could borrow for an hour or so. Failing that, if someone was happy for me to borrow the front wheels from their car for a while then I'd be awfully grateful. I'd be happy to do the jacking up and removing and whatnot, and would torque the wheelnuts up properly and everything when I am done!

If anyone can help I'd be very grateful. Post on this thread or PM me.

Thanks,

Oli.

You can borrow my front cup 1 17's for an hour if they are the right size

Plenty of motorway around here for a test

Knowing how much 17 cup ones are worth I might need a pound of flesh for a deposit lol

Oli,

Come down to Brands Hatch Friday evening, borrow the D90's off the race car Toyo 888's are road legal.

Rag it round the M25 and test it out, then bring 'em back....

I have 4 x D90's 8" and a full set of CS 7.5" & 9" you're more than welcome to borrow .

Let me know if you need to borrow these, particularly if you're heading north up the A1/M1 anytime in the near future - you could drop in for a brew and a wheel test !

BTW - phone number change 07918 151128 but still on the same email if you need to contact me.

Yours

Chris

Chaps,

That's three fine offers - many thanks! I'll try swapping the locking wheel nuts out for some plain alloy ones (I have a couple of spares) and see what difference that makes. Failing that, I'll prevail upon one of you for the loan of some wheels.

I'll keep you posted. Thanks again.

Martin, Gerry, Chris,

An update on this; as I posted on the other thread, it turns out that the problem is (mainly) to do with the locking wheel nuts on the front wheels (as Gerry correctly surmised.) I swapped them for some regular wheel nuts and the problem (almost) disappeared. I therefore no longer need to borrow your spare sets of wheels, but many thanks for the offers anyway as they were greatly appreciated.

Thanks again.

Oli.
