Four-Wheel Alignment

Hi!

I will soon get a new set of PS 4S tyres fitted, but the cost to do the alignment seems ridiculous.

What can I reasonably expect to pay, anyone know of a good, reliable place?

I don't know about prices but we used to use Autostrasse for all our 911 servicing and mechanical repairs, they are in Coggeshall.

Are your existing tyres indicating mis-alignment?

Varies substantially by model and how fussy you are, especially if needs kinematic toe checked / adjusted.

For ultimate set up, you're looking at Centre of Gravity and similar. Otherwise, for simpler alignment suggest ask local indie who they use and check for local independent tyre shop with 4 wheel aligner and ask them to price.

Our local tyre shop has 4 wheel aligner and did Boxster (around £60), but says can't do 993 due to Kinematic toe.

993 pricing varied between £180 - £900 and local OPC more expensive than Centre of Gravity.

Based on my own experience ironically at a PCGB-arranged demo years ago, I recommend you make sure you know what suspension (ie standard or one of the various factory options) you have on your car. The alignment tool is likely to offer the techie all the available options for that model and it has been known for the techie to select the wrong one.

The existing tyres have worn evenly, there is nothing that suggests a problem, but it’s perhaps wise to make sure all is in order for the new boots.

All recently refurbished Centres now offer a drive-through geo check. So try one of those.
If you're old tyres are showing even wear, there's probably not much wrong. However, since you're running a 4.0 GTS you clearly are not driving it hard enough!
