Floor questions.....Resto Time

Ok just spent a afternoon on the 54.. now i have a dilema with my floor....

The floor is the orginal floor and I would like to keep it that way..The problem is that the floor as some problems with the are pressed area's over the years have flattened in area's. So the strengh has some what gone in a few area's

Also some area's are not rusty but have suffered from a little surface rust which again has weakend the floor. I have had a go at heating the area's and by hammering some of them and I feel that by reforming the pressings it has put some strengh back.

Should I continue this or just replace the floor.?

Next in the rear part of the floor I am replacing this area. but where the floor meets the tunnel I can't see too many spot welds to drill so should I just cut that area with a grinder. and replace 90 angle when I put the new floor in ( picture to follow. )

But good to get stuck into the car for a few hrs......

This subject has been covered quite well here at ddk http://www.ddk-online.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=91237#91237 and I have updated some pictures so any advice would be great once you see the pictures you will see what I mean about the floor. it's solid and saveable but there are a few problems with the ribs being abit flat so I will have to work on these...

the floors look great - is the rest of the car as sound as that?

Think that I'd be tempted to leave as is - provided no holes have appeared during the clean up.

Yes the rest of the car is like that. I am very lucky when you see other projects.

I have now cut out the rear bowl area of the floor as it is pitted and the new one has arrived so I am just going to graft in what i only need.. it's the sort of job that I only want to do once so might as well do it now.

cut out the old floor that was abit rough the rear bowl and cut out the new panel and done a dummy run so I will post pic's tomorrow when I get my welder back I hope to have this back in tomorrow..

then on the other side if I do both bowls then I know the floor will be strong..

The difference in strengh is much much better so i was right to do it..

looks like I will have a few parts of floor section left over

what do people recommend for sealing up the floor when it is bear metal?

I was talking with Roger Bray Last year and they have a water based flexable sealant. which needs an oven to cure it... I have an oven for a car I can use. but no idea what the name of the product was?

I am about to weld in the new rear section, been delayed due to problems with work grrrr...will up date some pictures
