Fitting - Apexi AVC-R - 944 turbo SE - Help !!!

Start at 16 psi, listen for pinking (Pre Detonation) sounds like a mettalilc tinkling sound.............Back Off, if everything is okay which it should be go up to 17 psi, then 18 psi uphill in fourth (Under Load) do not try it unless the roads are good, which is not the case at the moment, get a read of the APEXI Manual, if you do not have one then you should be able to download one. I need to sort out some wonga for the boost controller, bear with me i will sort it along with the outstanding ferry money. Give me a ring this week as there may be a change in the 944 stable (Black car going nowhere possible Silverose addition) [:)]
 
I would add, that youre better off using a Knocklink to detect det, or det cans if you can, because detonation will destroy your big ends and it can happen without the driver realising, until their engine dies.
 
Hi All Car all up & running now with Boost set at 0.75 bar & Duty set at 80%, what can i safely increase this to ? Thanks in advance [;)][:D]
 
Paul, leave "as is" for now, you can start to play about when you get back from Germany. The car will be noticeably quicker now anyway.
 
Just turned the boost up to 1.0 bar tonight, couple a mile up the road & back & all seems fine...
 
Vitesse maf with its chip board plug in measures airflow across the whole range so can cope with boost changes, Scivision replicates the standard air flow meter where it is maxed out at about 4,000 rpm and uses look up tables after that - therefore the boost needs to be closer to what the chips expect or above 4000 rpm you will run rich or lean. I didn't know that, thanks. So maf really only worth going with if it vissate? If he was 2 run 18psi would he need 55lb injectors?
 
I think if I was in the market for one now I would be going http://www.augmentautomotive.co.uk/augtronic which I think i am correct in saying is MAP based. For the OP depends on which version of chips and what they were designed to run with as to what boost level is safe. The scivision will be less restrictive than the standard setup so it might flow more air at lower pressures needing more fuel, hard to know without air / fuel monitoring especially as it seems to be a 'mixed' kit (its been a while but I thought the scivision came with its own chips originally). A dyno run will indicate how far off ideal the mixture it is, and could allow a few different boost pressures to be tried. Tony
 
I run a SciVision with Promax chips, peak boost set at 19psi and the fuelling curve was good on my dyno runs, typically very low 12's at WOT and nice and safe across the rev range. Promax used to sell them but they had a habit of breaking and leaning out the mixture dramatically. Mine has been on for 3 years and not missed a beat plus I can keep an eye out on my AFR gauge. Still a good piece of kit and a big improvement on the AFM, car more driveable at low revs too and well worth the couple of hundred quid I paid for it. If I was buying new however I would also go augmentive route. Stuart
 
Didn't relise it was ready, thought barks was still working in the turbo side. So this would act as map and the chipset? An maf was going to be the next step. But it MIT worth just jumping straight in with this at stage 2.

Guess you are best off talking to Tom! http://www.augmentautomotive.co.uk/augtronic As I understand it its a complete new ECU that interfaces with the existing loom but allows lots of exciting options Map or MAF wider selection of injectors, coil on plug (or near plug anyway) closed loop afr monitoring/tuning with narrow or wideband boost control etc etc. Exciting stuff, so much so I cant decide if I still want a V8 in my coupe or a rebuilt 2.5 or 2.8. Tony
 
Ran boost @ 1.2bar for the first time this evening & went head to head with a super bike up to 140mph (this was on a private road of course) [;)] After we had passed each other a couple of times & slowed right down he then popped it on the back wheel & went on his way... [:D]
 
Can any advise if there should be a clicking noise caused by the Apexi under hard accelerating ??? [8|]
 
Yes - That's the solenoid working. Due to where yours is mounted next to the firewall you'll hear it more. Try and get a thin bit of rubber and put it between the bracket and the bulkhead, that'll help a bit.
