First Porsche..First Post..FANTASTIC!

Prior to March this year I hadnt even sat in one. All I knew was they all began with 9!
For some reason best know to greater powers I am yet to meet, I called into my local main dealer, had a look, had a sit, had a chat, went for a test drive the following day coughed up the thick end of 75 k. and within two weeks drove away in my new 997 2s. The car was already sat in the showroom and each time I walked past it didnt so much whisper, but yelled out BUY ME!
I think the spec (by dealer) is ok, but heay what do i know?
Sports Exhaust/Sat Nav/Phone/Sport Suspension/Sports Seats/Heated Seats/Sun Roof/Park Assist/Rear Wiper/Bose Sound System. I think thats about it. My car is Guards red (not everyones cup of tea) and I have put the techequip Black wheels on while retaining the original silver grey rim. It looks full of attitude which I love in any car. The first 4800 miles have been nothing less than outstanding!!
I tend to stick with my purchases, its the only way to beat the depreciation zone! So i guess my first question is...Longevity of the 997? in terms of mileage and years. Given that they are serviced and cared for of course.
Happy Days and Years I hope??

Sounds like a great colour and wheels combination so same question as above - got any photos? I'd love to see what those wheels look like.

You can't beat red, basically it's the only colour for any sports car but particularly the 911.

SPG911, congrats!

I'd like to know the answer to that longevity question you posed too; when i finally get 'round to writing the cheque, i don't plan to be writing another for a hell of a long time either!

From what I can see people seem to steer clear of this question..maybe we dont want the answer!. I cant be the only person who would consider spending 75 k on a car with a view to keeping it..maybe I am? Its my second car so summer, europe for Moto GP races next year, and general weekend blasts perhaps 8k miles or so a year tops. Its interesting that Mr Porsche when welcoming you to Porsche ownership in the " Owners hand book" states that " More than two thirds of Porsches ever built are still running" Why then do Porsche only offer a two year Mfg warranty. I know we can pay 850 pa upto 10 years..I think?. Given that Hyundi ( is that how you spell it) give 5 years unlimited miles..need I say more. On a sad note I dont have a digital camera..pathetic I know. My mates got some pickies of my car/wheels so I will try and post soon so you guys can see the wheels.
Thanks SPG911

Good point regarding warranty. I guess a large part of it must go down to culture. As consumers we Brits aren't as fussy and troublesome, we have tended to be more reserved and accepting. If there is a problem, we apologise as if it were our fault. Other countries, such as USA give 4 years manufacturer warranty as standard for new Porsche.

In terms of reliability, I wish you better luck than me, I've had over a dozen warranty issues in the last 18 months including RMS, clutch problems, various recalls, exhaust bits needing replacing, and now a broken engine. Hopefully I will get my car back before xmas with a new and working engine in it.

I think everybody should have at least one bright-coloured car, my every-day car is a yellow S4 Avant...[;)]
On another matter and I would hate to be a party-popper, please keep everyone updated about any manifestations of the dreaded RMS legacy...
