finished but with issues

After 3 days of hard work 8-8pm every day got the car back together well almost [:(]

I have 2 problems that need the wisdom of the forum[:D]

1. I fitted the JMG shift kit (not short shift) the one with the OEM throw I can get 1-5 ok but can not get reverse...any ideas??

2. the fuel line from the pump to the filter leaks like mad at the filter end, both are new porsche parts it started with a flood and after tighening with my longest spanner and a lot of force it is now a drip but I can not tighen any more??

Must be a problem with the parts - any fluid union like that shouldn't need massive tightening. You're not missing a washer or something?
 
the fitting has a bubble flare so line a brake line only larger, so I do not I can use a washer I think the thread may not be long enough for the pipe to make contact.....Porsche quality???[:D][:D]

With the precision shift, I have put an answer on the other forum, but just for the archives here, I think either your clutch/spigot bearing is not allowing the torque tube shaft to completely stop and so are not allowing the non synchro reverse to engage, or the cross bar on the linkage needs adjusting to bring the gear lever further left.

With the fuel leak, what does it say on the filter? Some online venders sell filters they think should be good for a 944 as they have the right threads, but they do not have the right length of thread, so will leak.. We have often considered outright blanket banning customers supplying their own parts because of this kind of thing... The filter should be a Porsche item, or the ones made by the people who supply Porsche, who are Knecht / Mahle .. which will have the part number (from the top of my head) of KL21... if this is right, either the filter or the fuel line has a bad fitting.

Will a KL22 fit Jon? It shares most of the KL21s fitment list (911s and 928s) but omits the 944.
 
Off work handicapped while I wait for a knee op at the moment, if not I would say I could compare both filters at the workshop in the morning. If I remember I will get one of the chaps to compare the two filters tomorrow as I know we keep both on the shelf for servicing.
 
both issues sorted ...went to CofG today with the Torsion bar dropped I had better access to the fitting Chris gave it a bit of force and it cracked closed..(for reference both these parts were from OPC)...

Adjusted the rod as Jon suggested and now have all the gears[:D]
