If you have problems with stragglers why do you not just set a time for departure from a meeting point and leave exactly at that time? No-one can complain if you make this clear in advance.
Late arrivals can then make their own way to the event.

As an RO maybe she should be?

Alternate suggestion: If you prefer e-communication then the email address is r29@porscheclubgb.com; I don't think it should be mandatory for all ROs/RSes/Committee to be on the forum but it would be useful if an active forum user in the Region/Register/Board be available to relay the messages for those who would prefer forums as a means of communication... but having said that, I think if you prefer the forum then dropping an email will not be too alien to you either...

I do my best to relay stuff to Mandy and did suggest to David that he email her (she does get the emails sent to R29). The PCGB Board have, historically, not put much pressure on ROs, RSs or themselves (i.e. Board Directors) to use the forum or emails and when I was briefly a RS I found that very frustrating. Dan.

I think a lot are catching up with the concept of owning a mobile phone (and there is nothing wrong with not having one) so forums may be some way away; let alone accounts on facebook, myspace, etc. I guess the next request would be for everyone to have a Blackberry or browser enabled on their PDA phones? Phil i take it you will be along on tuesday night ?

be nice to meet up with my SC register sec , will be mine an Hazels first club meeting (well porsche one anyway) and i have a quiet week next week so i have no excuse not to drive a few miles down the road .

mandy does not need to be on the forum - she runs a tottally EXCELLENT region without the need to use the forum and is simply better off avoiding a lot of politics within the forum - she spends more time and effort in organising events which is far more useful - if you need to contact her you can always ring or go through the channels to get hold of her , at the end of the day lots of people dont use computers/forums and it is much more important to have activities in the club and social events . KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK MANDY !

Were RO and RS not actively encouraged to use the forum and email by the way of a £50 payment towards broadband costs???
I seem to remember this when the CoC came in....?

I'm also aware that a few refused to accept the monies..

Mandy DOES reliably read her emails, which is more than can be said of the Register Director when I was an RS (partly why my role as RS was so brief) !!!!!!!!!.

here here!! we loved our day out to Hastings. We hope to join the Surrey crowd again at some point :)

I feel i have to comment in support of Mandy and the region members. After being with them for nearly a year i feel i have been made more than welcome. [;)] This has been through direct communication using the monthly meetings and picking up the phone. Why should people have to check e-mails, forums, mobile phones, land lines, letters.....what next? [:'(] Let her get on with what she does best...organizing events. [:)][:)][:)] I use the 996 forum regularly and take great interest in the advice posted. As it specializes in that particular model it will always be busier than a region forum as most of the region post is displayed through the Porsche Post and at club nights.
Lets not lose the personal touch.....remember, its good to TALK.
ps No, i don't work for BT

I'd be really interested to know who is an R29 member and is active within the region. I'd got the impression that I'm one of the few (note that I've decided to 'hide' my profile). So please post something (obviously I know David's a regular and Mark/Clair but I'm looking for others who lurk that I'm unaware of).

Cheers, Dan.
