Failed rear wiper motor?

Yesterday my rear wiper hesitated when I switched it on, taking a few seconds to move like it was frozen. Was then ok. Today it's stopped working all together. I'm guessing the motor has failed, I take it if there's 12v getting to the motor when the switch is on then the motor is kaput?

Will test tomorrow but any tips appreciated

Rear wipers have been failing on these cars fr the last twenty years. They used to sell for £50 (and some new 'breakers' may well still try!), but theyre worth about a tenner now. Id briefly check it and then look for a replacement. Keep your cover as itll probably be cleaner and smarter thn whatever comes through the post.

Also check for loose connections, I replaced mine about 8 years ago recently it stopped and thought I needed another one, but every now and again when I go to use it, it works! So somewhere must be a loose connection...

I think there may be 2 diameters for the shaft where it goes through the screen - with screens with 2 corresponding different size holes - cant remember if its late or early cars that are larger through, sorry!

Checked today and yep, it's the motor that's gone. I didn't take a photo or check part number - oops! - but the motor had three spade connectors on the end of it, not two if that helps?

Hope you guys can help? Phil has kindly sent me a photo of his motor, see below;

and it looks slightly different to mine, see below;

The mounting points look similar so it looks like it would still be a straight swap but it would be great if anyone can confirm if Phil's motor is going to work on my car (1986) or not.

I can tell you that yours is an early 924-type and that Phil's is a later type - other than this Im not sure what youre asking?

The mounting and electrics look similar but you would need to see if the shaft diameter was the same.

Thatll depend on the diameter of the drive shaft, possibly. I cant remember whether they changed once or twice nor whether the shank size actually makes a difference, sorry. Id suggest speaking to an old-school breaker like PH, because he still remembers the stuff that Ive long since forgotten...[]
