Factory being helpful what's up

Not sure why but I called the Porsche Factory and they were VERY helpful..

Mind you I am still waiting to here from them but they really wanted to help me get this colour issue sorted for my car. Which is a nice change..

I hope they have changed their mind alittle and thought what a nice idea it is to help a few people restore a few cars to orginal. I do hope this is a positve step for them.. AS the marketing power of seeing so many early cars in restored condition can only help them market their new cars with the desirabilty , a power full marketing tool if ever there was one..

If I understand from the chap he is going to check my details of the chassis number and let me know a detail I asked for as I have the Kardex from PCNA anyway but the interior has been put down wrong.

Also I think if I understood right he is going to organise for some colour chips to be sent out to me..[:D] RESULT!!!!! if they arrive.. then I can get the match to that..

That's interesting, especially as the factory has a heritage/classic dept . I believe this exists to take rebuild commissions from classic owners (who have just won the lottery).
Pardon for the cynicism, but it is hard to believe that there is any part of the current Porsche empire which is not in it for the dosh only.

I agree with you there. So far I am not sure where I am with it at the moment. If and when something arrives in the post I will let you know here.

I have always thought Porsche AG should be more helpfull of the classic cars. As this can only help to put more classic cars back on the road. They are afterall a rolling marketing tool for Porsche..

And for abit of help eg the build sheet or spec for people who are restoring cars and or colour help then it's not going to cost them alot is it.. say 1hrs labour.. Well that 1hrs labour has 10 times that in return.. With more cars back on the road restored right and the positive feedback about how helpful the factory was..

time will tell I hope to offer good news as and when some thing arrives..

I hope soon then I can buy the paint [;)]

I was at the resteration dept at the factory earler this year and they were very helpfull as to charges I think he said about 85 euros per hr.

Hey, 912UK.Would you happen to be "Normski" on the VW "Edition 38" forum?
Question posed by my VW fanatic son.
Sorry for hijacking the thread.

Ah, pity. Its just that I mentioned to him that you were Fareham -based (we used to live in Gosport) and had a Corrado and a hot Jetta. He pricked his ears up at that info. He has a VR6 and one day may be after a classic Porsche - to go with mine.We may be after you for advice in the near future!
All the b(r) est.

update

[&:] well nothing ...... infact I am going to recall them... later today..

when it was all going so well.

I didn't see this earlier, it would be great if RSs could have a direct contact with the factory. How's the Technical Commitee progressing, are you still involved Maurice?

Peter - this is something I've been asking Robin Walker about - as a 'new' RS - apparently we have to put all contact with Porsche through the Board.......

There's got to be a way we can build links with Porsche Classic - something I'm trying to explore [:)]

Hi Philip, yes of course you're right , I remeber when I was an RS all Club Oficials have to go through the Club to contact Porsche, maybe this rule can be changed with certain conditions imposed so that no protocol is breached, surely we can talk to each other, we have a common interest and it would probably create Anglo-German friendships too.

Especially with the creation of the Porsche Classic team at AG who now are really bringing the early cars into focus - this dedicated route wouldn't need to bother the 'modern' side of things so perhaps there's hope.......

Philip, you might be better being distinct from the 'relatively' modern bunch in terms of getting access to AG ..

Sorry Maurice - what I meant was that given AG's renewed (and wholly welcome!) interest in all things 'classic' (relaunch of old parts, museum, restoration centre etc.) I'm hopeful that a direct dialogue can be opened - with official approval - to enable better access to the information AG hold - that's my sincere hope anyway [:)]

IMHO any need to go via GB is an immediate barrier .. they cannot and do not attempt to add any value, so are best avoided, unfortunately ..

Ahem, "no comment" [:D]

Good platform for a prospective board member here ... [;)]

Went to Burton's and they'd sold clean out of flack jackets - so I'm keeping my head in the Early 911 Register thanks [;)]
