Extra Meeting at the Huntsman June 4

At our last club night I was talking to some of the members about a plan to form a committee similar to other regions,
With some more help we will be able to;
Communicate better
Organise more events
Attract more of our members to join in.

We thought it would be best to have a meeting to discuss this on a separate night and to let everyone know in advance.
We have had a couple of offers of help, one on the IT side and the other for general organising but there is always room for more.

So it is our usual venue at 7.30pm June 4
The Huntsman Inn, Bristol Road, Falfield, Gloucestershire GL12 8DF

If anyone is interested but won't be able to make that evening then get in touch and we can register your interest.

Looking forward to seeing you there and having a positive outcome that will benefit our region.

Kind Regards Elaine and Stuart

Only 30 hits on this thread and not one reply!

This is a chance to have your say on how the Region develops and I'm sure that almost everyone in this area must have an opinion on that. Why not come along and at least express an opinion - there is no obligation to become involved, although I'm sure that any offers of assistance would be welcome.

Hi, I am aiming to join the meeting tomorrow as I am not working away for the first time in a long time. Is anyone else going along?

I think a few of us have replied by e-mail directly to Stuart and Elaine (who in my opinion are doing a great job) as we can't make the next meeting.

Looking forward to the Williams visit, Castle Combe and Goodwood.

Hope to see you all soon

Martin, yes I agree on the face of it there does not seem to be a lot of interest but as Nick has said, from the
email we sent out some members have replied directly to us.
Most of the replies have been to say they unfortunately can not make the evening and a few to say that they are willing to help out.

We never know how many will turn up at a meeting but the Huntsman is definitely attracting more members than the Compass or Cross hands.

Nick, thanks for your support as always, much appreciated

Thank you to the few that came to our meeting last night and thanks to the members that took
the trouble to send their apologies for not being able to attend.

We are also grateful to those members that are willing to help us with the running of Region 16.

As we are away this weekend I will put together a report and post it Monday

Regards Stuart

As the meeting last night was effectively something of a Regional EGM, it set me thinking that an AGM would certainly be a useful way of getting together annually and addressing the running of the Region.

To this end I would suggest that we set a date for an AGM, probably during the dark months and preferably incorporated into a normal monthly meeting, given the distances that some members travel to attend these.

I felt that last night facilitated a productive RO/membership interaction of the sort which cannot take place at ordinary meetings and there should be the opportunity for more of the same on an annual basis. Do others agree?

Yes I think that's an excellent idea Perhaps the November meeting. That gives plenty of time to get the message out there

A general meeting once a year is a good idea and we should put it on the questionnaire that is being drawn up.
November seems a long way off but we have enough to do with getting on with this years events
and planning next years.
On top of that we have to meet up with the members that have expressed an interest in helping out so to be more
realistic I think January will be a better month.

The meeting was held as we want to find a way of attracting more members to club nights / events and to find people to help out.
We were expecting some criticism but there was only a bit of that and not really warranted anyway.

Obviously communication was high on the list and Tam has kindly offered to help out with the IT and is looking into
ways for the region to keep in contact efficiently.
The group agreed that we should send out a survey/questionnaire to members, Stefan agreed to put the questions
together in an understandable format then we have to sign it off and send it out.
Due to work commitments of the people involved there will be a bit of a delay in getting this done.

There was also some discussion about trips away and a lot was said in agreement but this will need someone to take it on.

Stefan was very passionate about many of the Prescott events and will be helping out with those which is what we wanted and much appreciated.

We had kind offers of help from members that could not make it to the meeting and look forward to working with them.
