Exhaust Recommendation - 981 Manual Boxster GTS ?

Have the dreaded stuck valve on PSE - might just replace with an aftermarket option - any thoughts on a reasonably priced system that links to PSE actuation?

You haven’t indicated your car’s series - 986, 987, 981, 718 - but there are lots of options out there for a range of prices. I’m not sure that you’ll find a system that links directly to your PSE actuation - most probably will use a separate fob actuation - and it’s likely that they’re going to be louder [and maybe boomy?] than the current system.

For starters, have a look at offerings from Topgear, although systems are available from other suppliers such as Milltek, Remus, etc.

Have you tried the penetrating oil and molegrips approach to the valves. They can often be freed up by soaking with oil and leaving for 24 hours, then applying gentle pressure.

Hi do you know why the valves are stuck open? My 981 GTS Boxster with PSE recently went to OPC for service. During health check spotted that actuator arm on both exhaust banks had snapped. Porsche say it's not repairable and need a new PSE (over £3K). Found an exhaust specialist who has fixed with new actuators and valves on both exhaust banks. Works a treat

What normally happens is the actuators seize either through lack of use or exposure to the elements and then break when the PSE is next activated. Prevention is to apply copper grease liberally and manipulate the actuator on each side by hand regularly to ensure it stays free.
Unfortunately it’s a poorly designed part - I don’t think Porsche will supply a replacement separately from the complete exhaust - which is placed right where it will attract all the muck and salt thrown up from the road.
