As per some of my previous posts, I have been working my way through the nuts and bolts on the exhaust system and tackled the penultimate ones yesterday which secure the link pipe between the two rear silencer boxes. Basically they had pretty much dissolved into what looked like a piece of broken gingerbread biscuit!.
After removing the tailpipe to give easier access and lifting the rear of the car a few inches I managed to remove the remains of the nuts and push the bolts out and replace them in stainless.
Job done - manifold to head bolts remain but this has the potential to be the biggest challenge ever!.
Why, O why do Porsche use sacrificial steel for the nuts and bolts that secure the exhaust system whilst the system itself looks in good nick?
