Euro road trip from Newcastle

With all the positive talk of vaccines and the sun coming out I’m getting hopeful that the summer of 2021 might be much more normal!

Most of the organised euro road trip companies I’ve looked at seem to depart from down south which means a long and fairly boring drive from Newcastle to start and end the trip.

Is there any companies that organise euro road trips that depart from Newcastle or Hull Ferry ports?

Otherwise - can anyone share any self arranged euro trip routes / itinerary they have used on previous trips?

Cheers,

Steve

Hi Steve

This is the best/cheapest ferry company for motorsport events, we always go from Hull to Zeebrugge but this year due to the pandemic Zeebrugge is freight only so it’s only Rotterdam from Hull.!

Hope this helps!

Many thanks

Best regards

Paul

Hi Steve,

We've not done any organised Euro trips but generally have used the ,now discontinued, Hull to Zeebrugge route to avoid the purgatory of getting to the south coast. Landing in Rotterdam adds about 1/2 an hour to the drive on the other side. Rot/ Zeeb are much closer to Calais than Newcastle to Dover etc .

Newcastle to Ijmuiden tends to be more expensive and is , now, the most northern access to Europe for Scandinavia following the demise of the North Shields to Bergen/ Stavanger route over 10 years ago.

Done Hull to Zeebrugge a few times, only (as Paul states above) as it usually works out a couple of hundred pounds cheaper than Newcastle to Amsterdam - not always though so worth checking especially with the route change to Rotterdam.

I usually head down to Eupen in Belgium for lunch, then head up the old invasion tank road to Monschau for an hour and a half trip through the Eiffel mountains to the Nurburgring. You’re then only 200 miles (3 1/2 hours) from Stuttgart. The trip from Stuttgart to Rotterdam is 6 hours back with Bonn and Cologne on the way back if you fancied a stopover, you could loop up to Amsterdam too if you wanted to extend your stay that way or take a different ferry back. Another alternative is to head back through Belgium via Spa and visit Leuven or Brussels on the way back to Rotterdam.

In 2016, we did the Newcastle ferry which was great. Splash out on the very top cabins. We then did Zeebruge to Le Mans (Hotel de France- go for the better rooms ) over to La Baule on the Atlantic coast and back to Epernay for some Champagne. 2 weeks and 1800 miles all in From Edinburgh.

Hi ,
