Can anyone tell me exactly which type of hose to use on my car? I read about a very smart Mk2 Mexico which was lost to an underbonnet fire recently and Im convinced that being garaged over winter with modern fuel was its undoing.

Not pirtek's anyway...in fact they told me recently that their fuel hose is no good for petrol..

On the plus side Ed, theyre up front about it, so it wont knock my good opinion of the firm (even though theyre actually a franchise...).

I had my flexible lines made at spectrum hose. They do seem to smell of petrol abit all the way along them :-( I spoke to them but he just said that's what they always use..".

I have seen an in depth study of this, but I can't remember where!

Pretty sure nylon was ok

Was surprised that some metals weren't though.

I use v-power in my classics, and I'm not sure it would effect the pipes so quickly.
That is an interesting read though.

Mot on 22nd so will see what he says,I do have a sensitive nose for such things :)

At the moment only 5% is allowed in Super, and that is too low to be a problem. Premium can currently have up to 10% but most doesn't - yet!
