Engine Oil low after 1800 miles 3.4 Flat 6

Having covered only 1800 miles from new in my Cayman S, the oil level minimum warning display came on whilst driving on Friday evening. The car was driving fine and no expensive noises from the engine compartment or oil on the garage floor. I got in touch with Tracie from opc Chester (very helpful) who arranged for me to bring the car in first thing Saturday. They checked everything and topped up the oil and said that there were no issues. Has anyone else experienced such high oil consumption on a new car?
