Hi all,

Is there a site we can use to identify our engine? I obviously have the engine number but don't know a suitable site I could use.

Thanks in advance.

All I'm trying to do is identify if the engine is a pre 86 or turbo engine etc. The car is at the garage at the moment so all I can use is the engine number on the V5.

I wondered if itd be this - are you hoping for an M44/50? Its only this engine which has the thicker block and better rods, and not all 1986 cars had it as it was replaced by the M44/51. Theres a year identifier in the engine number, so xxLxxxxx would be a 1990 engine.

Youll need a 'G' and then youll need to look more closely. I cant remember where the marks are now but someone like Jon Mitchell will be able to help you. I wouldnt get my hopes up though.
