I have been on the hunt for some seats for my searies 1 for a while and now I have found some. The ones I currently have are manually adjustable whereas the replacement ones appear (from a picture) to be electrically adjustable. Has anyone fitted these before and are they easy to wire up?
 
And the fitments to the floor of the car will be exactly the same given the seats are from an S2 and mine is an S1? No more silly questions after this I promise!
 
[FONT=arial"]They should fit the same holes - what I don't know is whether the early cars had additional captive nuts for the later style seats with the seat belt buckle attached.

If you're putting seats in with seat belt buckles on the seats themselves, you will need 4 bolts instead of 2 at the rear, to provide appropriate strength - that's what ph sportscars advised me

(new bolts are a few pence from OPC)

Hello,
I did this modification to my 1984 944 some years back now. I was lucky enough to get both the driver and passenger seats electrically operated. If memory serves me right I removed the carpet and fed the wiring along the top on the tunnel and down to each side. The live was connected to a feed that is continuously live (so I can alter the seats without having the ignition on). The connector block on the seats fitted a normal 'chocolate block' connector. I can't remember exactly where I took the feed from but it may have been the same feed as the cigarette lighter.

There are simple pushfit electrical connectors underneath the seats. It sounds as if yours are coming loose and when you sit down they break connection. Hopefully when you take the seats out, all will become clear.
 
In the seats I have mended, either a wire has become detached from the back of the switch or the switch itself is suffering from corroded contacts.
There is not a lot of spare wire to enable removal of the switch without unfastening the seat loom from under the seat.

Lots of opportunity for modifications to be made.

I have a relay for turbo waterpump -.but I don't have a turbo and haven't pulled it to see what doesn't work.

I'm fairly certain both my seats work with or without the ignition. Yours and mine are about the same age.
I'll check as I go home this evening
 
My drivers side works without ignition, but the passenger side has no electrics [:(]

Oh the windows work without ignition as well, as long as the doors are open

This is true, although the driver's side door contact is a little flaky on mine and sometimes needs a wiggle. The interior light contact is reliable but the second take-off from the door-open contact switch is a bit hit and miss.
