Sunday April the 10th will see Region 13 members visiting the Elan Valley and the Metropole Hotel
The actual dam we are visiting is called Penygarreg Dam

The plan is to have one tour consisting of 50 people max (cost £4 per person). We will assemble at the Elan Valley visitor centre for 10.30 am on the 10th April 2016. This will allow time for a quick comfort break before the ranger meets us and then lead us in our cars up to the Penygarreg Dam car park. There is then a walk of approximately quarter of a mile to the dam wall where we will enter and be shown the inner workings. The tour, with questions and answers, should take approximately 90 minutes.

After the tour we will drive to The Metropole Hotel, Temple Street, Llandrindod Wells LD1 5DY (about a 25 to 30 minute drive) for a 3 course Sunday lunch with coffee costing £16.00 per person. The hotel has ample parking.

Adrian, I have put you and Jude on the list, but at the moment we are oversubscribed for the tour of the dam so you are on the reserve list! Pat Henson is seeing what can be done about organising a second tour, but if that isn’t possible hopefully you will still come to the lunch.

Great news, Pat Henson has managed to arrange for the numbers that can be accommodated on the tour of the dam increased to 50 people, so everyone who was on the reserve list is now on the tour.

UPDATE

All 50 places taken so we have had to create a new reserve list.

The menu is now available, can we please have your menu choices no later than 31st March.

The meal is three courses plus tea or coffee.

The list of those attending is at the start of this thread.

If you are on the reserve list you are welcome to join us for the lunch.

Thanks to Ben for putting his photos on the forum for us all to share. It seemed that everyone enjoyed themselves.

The Ranger who gave the tour would like a photo of the cars lined up. Could you email Pat Henson your DSC_0085 as that looks suitable?

His email is: hensonpatrick30@yahoo.com

Many thanks

Phil

Tuerkis (well, Türkis actually) is German for turquoise! I've seen blue and green added after it! Either way, same colour as ours - and love the split rims these come with as standard.[:)]
