Ebay purchase??? Help!!

odd looking thing - comes up on ebay as an auto?

it all depends on the price...

I wouldn't

I need an auto as I'm a wheelchair user and drive with handcontrols.

Looked an interesting 944 Auto. Maybe if it was £950 I'd be tempted!!

Good autos don't seem to come up. Wish I hadn't sold mine a while ago!!

Quite cleverly hidden but you can see the button atop the gear lever. The angles wrong too, as you cant get a manual gear lever that far forwards...

ah - my mistake..

for a grand it might be worth a punt - as usual just make sure you have some cash in reserve for the inevitable issues that will need attending to

The good thing is that it's being sold by someone who obviously knows a bit about 944's & has spent some money on maintaining it.

Query the Auto Box although it is possible that the stick has been disguised, looks quite tidy.

If you win then before you visit send a response to the seller that clearly states.....................

" You are the highest bidder on the car and that bid is made in good faith and purely based upon the description and pictures only. Should any defects be apparent upon viewing the car that have not been pictured, presented or described or the details within the listing are misdescribed or mechanical defects become apparent when driven then you reserve the right to refuse the car"

EG: immaculate bodywork, pristine interior, faultless paintwork etc etc

I have on a couple of occasions and refused the car and listed all the defects that were not mentioned. When one chap complained and suggested bad feedback would be left I told him to do so so I could dispute it and tell tell e-bay, needless to say he didnt.

You can look at a 968 tip, but it will cost you a lot more! If it is a Merc box (I don't know) , that isn't a problem !!
(Or do you mean the 944 box? If so, I'm pretty sure it's an Audi unit like the one in my 924-which is great!)

In the shot with the sill panel,I would have to say the inner panel is not standard and has been replaced. It should have a distinct rib running along it and holes cut in it as well. This is not a problem as long as the new metal has been replaced properly.I would bet though that the floor would have had a bit aof work as well.I also don't see the point in doing that job without replacing the outer sill panel with a standard one from Porsche as they are only £150 and would have made this job alot easier to da as well as leeting the welder rplace the whole of the intermediate panel rather than just a strip at the bottom. The po must have paid a fair bit of cash for that job so why skimp on the job for the sake of an extra £100 or so.Why spend a fortune on a recover of the seats and then do a cheap job on the body.I was always told to sort out the body and mechanical side of the car before you waste money on trinkets. Rant over!!!!!!

I would say repaired not replaced. Sorry to be pedantic but this type of repair really is half a job.

i was watching this one....even though last month i re-entered the world of the 944 auto's again having bought a low-miler at a high-ish price off pistonheads.

however, for this one, it was the seats, the paintwork, and the sill work which made me hesitant as i felt it might turn out to be a pig in a poke. but that said, for just over a grand all in it might have been worth a punt...

duncs
