Early 944 electric seats not working

Guys
The electric seat adjustment was working fine in my 944 until the snow arrived. Now neither seat will work. I have looked through the manuals I have and no mention is made of the electric seat circuits in my age of car-I can't even find out which fuse they use or if they are relay controlled!

To clarify, my car is a 1985 square dash 944 Lux with the fuseboxes in the passenger footwell.

Any help in tracing or diagnosing the fault greatly appreciated!

Your car didint have electric seats (originally your car had seats with one back rest release per seat - seats with two releases, one on either side, came from 1986> cars). They were introduced with the series two car in September 1985. Youre going to have to remove the seats (four bolts probably, but they should use six if youre using the seat mounted seat belt stalk) and follow the cable down the rabbit hole.

The electrical connection only uses two wires - positive and earth, so its relativewly straight forward. If there is good power at the plug then it will be the seats themsleves, so follow any trouble shooting guide for model year '86 onwards seats.

Great Simon-many thanks. I knew the seats were from a later car but wasn't aware that early ones didnt have electric operation. Wiring wise, would they usually be connected together or have seperate power and earth feeds? I think someone has used matching loom sections because the plugs do look original/not hacked about. Should there be a relay or not?

Each seat has its own connector, but I cant remember where or how they connect to the original cars loom. The wiring loom for series cars is completely different though, so I certain that youll have to follow the cable and see where its been connected.

Great. Should there be a relay or are they direct connections?
There was some other wiring bodgery in the car so I wouldn't be surprised to find more under the carpets......[8|]
