I was wondering whether anyone else had experienced problems with fitting the Dynavin N6 with a factory fitted Bose amplifier in their vehicle.
My car is a 2005 987 2.7 fitted with a CDR24 head unit and the Bose amplifier and speakers in the cockpit. Having owned the car for four years the lack of a modern audio unit has nagged away at me until I finally relented this week and had one fitted. I had carried out research online and through this forum that seemed to indicate that this was a safe and easy option.
Unfortunately it hasn't turned out as I hoped and the CDR 24 is back in place.
My lack of satisfaction has arisen because of the following;
1. The colour of the Dynavin unit is not close to the dashboard; it's more of a silver rather than a gun metal grey.
2. There was no control of the surround sound/sub woofer once installed and the vast majority of the sound was emmitted from the top dashboard speakers. Depsite the Dynavin unit having a comprehensive equaliser and balance/fade controls there was little effect.
3. Dynavin advertise as the N6 as being a "plug and play". During installation the loom was cut into twice; once at the ignition switch end and once at the amplifier end. It was also advertised as being fully integrated which for me meant complete functionality.
Having said that the unit performed well with regards to it's SatNav, Bluetooth, USB and micro SD card functions.
I have contacted the UK distributors of Dynavin and I am awaiting their reply. I have asked whether the problem lies with my car, their unit or the installation.
Has anyone else had these problems or does anyone have a less stressful way of bringing the audio/connectivity of the car into the 21st Century?
