Druck Guage ??

I have just completed a track day and missed the last session as the Druck Guage read 2 when normally it reads just over 4 ... can anyone suggest what has gone wrong

On tic over at 1000 rpm guage is around 2 as normal ... on accelerating away and going the gears say 3000-4000rpm guage doesn't get much above 3 whereas I have always experienced it registering just above 4. It was absolutely fine right up until the last session when I noticed a big drop off on the reading on the out lap and quickly abandoned the session

Your gauge readings don't sound correct to begin with. At tickover your gauge should be reading about 0.5 -1.0 bar and 4.0 bar or over at 4000rpm up. If the engine wasn't particularly hot and seemed to be performing correctly I would suspect the oil pressure sender or the gauge. If you want to be safe perform a DIY oil pressure test or trailer it to a specialist and get them to do it. It could be a failed oil pump or oil pressure relief valve. I've never heard or either suddenly dying though.

If you're happy to restart the engine, remove the terminal from the pressure sender (small brass coloured cylinder to the right of the engine fan) and clean both terminals. Before you start the engine turn on the ignition and touch the wire terminal onto the engine casing (ground) and the gauge should go to the maximum reading. If it does the gauge is probably ok. Start the engine and check the pressure, after cleaning the terminals you may now get a more correct reading. If not it's off to the mechanics or take a chance and fit a new pressure sender as a last ditch cheap fix.

Brief update ... went to mechanics it was indeed the sender ... replaced and works a treat .. thnks for help
