Do you find that listening to particular songs makes you inclined to drive more quickly?

Ive been listening to a couple of old and half-forgotten CDs in my car recently and Ive noticed that one song in particular always makes me speed up on the motorway.

The track in question is 'New Dawn Fades' by Joy Division. For those who arent familiar its on the 'Unknown Pleasures' album and might be familiar from Heat, as the music played as Al Pacino chases Robert DeNiro on the freeway, or more recently the same Moby cover is being used on the BMW ads on the television.

So: am Ialone or do certain track affect other people in a similar way? Anyone who states that 'In the Air Tonight' makes them put their foot down needs to be quiet and roll down their jacket sleeves, but they can borrow my Miami Vice series one DVD! []

Most certainly Simon, I find some heavy rock tracks get me going and considering I drive far too fast without music you can imagine what happens when some wild music blares out of the speakers. I'm useless when it comes to music so don't ask me to name any tracks, I can recognise good music when I hear it but have little chance of naming the track...

I have a Monte Carlo steering wheel that makes me drive too quickly too! Ive had to take it off several cars over the years, hence why it still appears to be new, despite being twenty years old.

Im going to replace the Prototypo on my Turbo and may give it a try...

I would also go with a bit of rock. AC/DC would be my choice so many great tracks. Heat seeker,thunderstruck,who made who,shoot to thrill,that's the way,whole lot of rosie etc etc etc . Also a fav would be All fired up by Pat Bennatar ( speeling probs wrong)

I remember driving home up the M11 then the A1 from Stanstead airport in the early-mid nineties, before the proliferation of speed cameras.

The road was virtually deserted and I was desperate to get home after a week in the cheapest Cork hotel that the firm could find. I clearly remember playing the Ministry of Sound Annual II, CD2 all I drove home at speeds thatd probably have me prosecuted for dangerous driving in todays 'speed kills' world.

I listen to all manner of stuff but find that Christy Moore is my favorite at the minute ! His music tells a story and he has fast ones and slow ones.. The sad ones really make me drive really easy ....

I saw Christy in concert back in 1995 and he was brilliant ..

Is that the best Rock album ever? Donal's Christy Moore is also a great recomendation, his Desert Island Discs was one of the most moving things I've ever heard.

I have to say that the track that I just can't help flooring it to is Smells like Teen Spirit; the anthem of the '90s for me, and so evocative of great times. If I want to drive fast, then anything by John Lennon, which makes me want to drive into the nearest concrete bridge to drown out the moaning Millionaire and his "imagine no possessions" hypocrisy. [&:]

Marillion were always the default choice for 944 owners, with Steve Rotheray being an active owner on Titanic.

Many years ago the members of the Titanic 944 forum put together our favourite driving tracks and Ben - Sideways, as he was then(!), kindly produced a double CD for everyone with the cover featuring the famous Rick Cannell 944 Turbo complete with all those stickers.

Mine is always in the 993 but as Melv and John state, the best sound is the engine and exhaust!

Absolutely

I'm finding much favour with Eric Johnson and Led Zep for my frequent trips on the M4. But for absolute license loosing it has to be AC/DC. On the other side of the coin, and annoying trucks in the slow lane, I have Katie Melua [8D]
