Drivers seat splitting - The answer?

The drivers seat in my 1986 944 has seen better days and is showing signs of wear, in fact it is downright splitting in a number of places on the bottom part.

My seats are black vinyl with grey narrow pinstripe.

I' m sure I found somewhere on the web a place that did the material and was going to order some in the hope of doing a repair but can no longer find the reference.

Having been quoted £147 plus VAT & shipping to replace the cover I' m hoping for a cheaper option.

Any ideas? I tried looking for seat covers to cover the seats but nothing doing; I guess the other extreme is a completely new seat from a breakers?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I used Southbound motor trimmers in Hampshire for a replacement Targa hood and headlining, they fitted it for me and the quality and service was fantastic.
Very reasonable as far as Porsche bits go. Might be worth giving them a call.

If you do find where to get this fabric then I suggest you buy it straight away because many of the older ones are no longer available. []

I have the linen pinstripe cloth and Southbound cannot get supplies anywhere.

Another option would be just to replace the cloth section with black vinyl or leather, unfortunately - not cheap

Seems like even seats from breakers can demand a fairly high premium.

Still I' ll keep looking.

I had loads of trouble getting cloth for my car. I just had to tell all the breakers I was interested and wait until a suitable set came in. I know that Southbound occationally gets cloth direct from the factory, even for discontinued lines. It' s just a case of badgering them from time to time and making sure they are aware of your requirements.

Another possible source coming up soon would be the Autojumble at Husborne Crawley near Woburn in Bedfordshire on April 26th if you' re down this end of the country.

Thanks Steve, I' ve emailed them to check out cost etc.

I see they do vinyl too and the backrest of the drivers seat is badly scored & torn down on the lower right hand side where keys or jeans rivets have damaged it so I' ve asked them for a quote for the black vinyl too. (Of course that may prove a harder job to fix but no harm in asking).
