down shift problem

has anyone had a problem when the transmission is shifting from 5th to 4th and it bangs into the gear very hard. Happens when I'm slowing down or if it is shifting from 5th to 4th climbing a hill.

Hi have just noted mine starting to do something similar. Doesn't happen all the time but as you said sometimes when you slow down or for me it's more noticeable when it kicks down under hard acceleration. Am getting it checked out this week so will let you know.

Cheers

Hello

It maybe a faulty electro/hydraulic unit located in the belly of the gearbox. These cause this harsh almost lock up of the transmission. We have done abot 5 in total.

Also gearbox ECU software is not the best, alot better after a newer control unit is installed with latest software.

When my KNS was clocking on gearchange - it was resolved through a mixture of software but also a new front diff. Alright for me as the warrentee was still valid then...

Hope you find your solution soon - have you tried "www.renntech.org" for a solution?? They have some great info.

Cheers

I know that problem - it´s common for cayenne - porsche knows that. You need to change the slide-valve gear box. Further, you should check if the bangs did not damage the torque converter (usually breaks a couple of months later).

In fact, you bought a VW Touareg with 521hp - it´s not designed for that
