Door seal leaking

Hi
The passenger door surround seal on my C4 has decided to give up on its duties. Having not long had the car, I'm guessing the door hasn't been used that much causing it to permanently compress or relax losing it's sealing capability. Door gaps etc seem fine. A new one comes in at a not so reasonable £400. A bit steep for a length of rubber tubing! My options appear limited:
1. Carry a bucket
2. Avoid going out in the rain
3. Bite the bullet
4. See if i can source a second hand one

Anyone else had the same problem? Thanks for any pointers.

My Targa door seal a couple of years ago was £200 + VAT and there is a lot more to my seal than yours.
Is that price from an OPC? Any PCGB Discount?

bear in mind the door seal rarely leaks; more often its the membrane between the door card and the metal of the door that's torn through careless maintenance or is no longer properly adhering to the door. might be worth having a look before you spring for a new seal.

Ignore my last post, I hadn't read all the replies!
As suggested, best I get it checked out properly first.

One of my "other" vehicles is a camper-van and it suffers the same problem (door seals start leaking because they become compressed with lack of use). A fellow camper taught me a trick. Massage the seals with glycerin (you can buy it in Boots). Not much. Just smear a little on a cloth and then rub it thoroughly into the seal. Not so much that you can see any residue after you have rubbed it in. Rejuvenates the seals. No, I did not believe it either, but it works. Solved my leaks. Takes me 30 mins to do all my van seals once a year.

That said, I replaced the seals on my 993 before I learned that trick and, apart from solving the leak, it also dramatically reduced wind noise.
