Does the 2.9 987.2 have an AOS?

OPC Wolverhampton have dug deep into the history files and found the DME/Oil Smoke software tweek.
Car booked in for 13 Dec, odd it is not a Friday... It is going to cost me though, bit disappointing that but I guess it is all about warrantee small print, about £240 inc vat and PCGB discount. [:mad:]

They will not guarantee this will fix it, but I want to get to the bottom of the reasonable fixes, so this is Stage 1.

Stage 2 if the DME tweek fails, will be the AOS, and I have the details from Richard to hand. [:)]

All the spanners in the tool box are crossed.
 
Just back from OPC Wolverhampton with the 987.2

This OPC has been very helpful and had a few surprises for me today.....
Firstly, the revised DME software has been 'fitted' and in that they have looked around the car's engine for the oil smoke issues.

The tech has asked for the AOS to be changed now the Software was updated and OPC would ask about £360 to change it.
Suitably surprised I ran down to their spares office and bought one for £61 and prepped for the DIY. It looks ok, all fittings from the top, so something to do soon.
Another BIG surprise was they discounted the bill by a very significant amount, pleased with that gesture.

Before I do change it, I shall wait and see if I get a smoke cloud over the next few weeks, but even if clear, will change the AOS.
Nothing more I can do other than sell it.

They also advised one of the cooling 'rackpipes' was seeping and both sould be changed. They said this with an aire of urgency, so while at the spare desk I asked about the task.

Seems a time consuming job but not dissimilar to the A/C rad change and OPC do a replacement 'kit', both hoses (each with a 1,000,000 pieces) for £340 ish, or about £1100 for them to replace them.
Needless to say, this will be a DIY task too once I've studied what parts are needed and what is involved.

I welcome any advice as ever please.

Once all these little adventures are done the car will be in great shap to sell or carry on planning the Italian road Trip, I expect it will be the latter![:)]
 
If it is of interest I had a quote from Porsche Leeds for replacing the AOS back in April 2017 of £234 inc VAT. This was on a 987.2 3.4. (I didn't actually get it done)
 
Well, inflation!

Before I start delving into the depths of this engine, anyone with instructions for the AOS change BUT on a 987.2?
The AOS is very different to the 987.1 and those before it.
Connections are simple, but wondering what needs to be removed before you actually get to it.
I can't find anything on it on Google.
 
From Richard's documents, it looks like I will have to remove 1/2 the inlet plenum to undo the 2 screws that hold the AOS to the engine.
There is a blow by blow procedure on PCA/Cayman for um but you have to join and more the PCA to get to it!
Irritating.

Anyone have an outline sequence detailing what is to be done to replace the AOS please?
 
Tried the same question over on boxa.net.
much the same response, but they have the factory parts manual to view and l looked at the 987.2 version.
some really good diagrams and shows the aos and adjacent parts clearly, looks to be straightforward to me.
going the do the front rack coolant pipes first once the 911 rebuild is completed.
