In a nutshell the above engine was "sold" last week to antonslimited who apparently started haggling about the price. manipou the author of the post "advertising" the ebay auction claims not to know rosieglossop who is selling the item.

Funny that rosieglossop bid on manipou selling a 3.6 carrera last week.
Funny that rosieglossop bid on antonslimited selling a caviga a month ago.
Oh and then there is simonmann who bid on the caviga antonslimited is selling also and the 2.7RS engine rosieglossop is selling. simonmann has 3 transactions and 2 of them are for antonslimited.


So watch out for rosieglossop, manipou, simonmann, and antonslimited

From the number of recent posts, warnings and complaints about ebay dealings it seems as if Plod should start to have a long and hard look at what is going on, who is dealing, and what is being sold. After all, fraud is a criminal offence and should be investigated with as much vigour as any other criminal offence once a formal complaint is made to the police.

Ebay might like to police itself a bit more carefully before the authorities start to get involved.

At the end of the day, caveat emptor; let the buyer beware - if it seems to be too good to be true, it probably is.

£12,995 to drive up the existing bid of a genuine bidder , where as someone really trying to win the auction would have bid say £13,001

On the face of it rosieglossop has bid on more than one item that antonslimited has had for sale.

Is it really that bad to bid on a mates item to 'get things going' as long as they don't overdo it???

I would guess and its only a guess, that antonslimited helped out rosieglossop and accidentally won it cos no-one else bid higher - hence the relisting. antonslimited had a car for sale that was in Camberley - not too far from Ascot!! They could be one and the same household for all I know.

They will have to pay the fees in any event. Strange that neither has given the other neg feedback[][]

Wow, makes interesting reading. I have followed some of the forums but missed this one. Amazing how peoples minds think. A bit of 'helping' in an auction has clearly marked me as a criminal!

The thing is 'shill bidding' is indeed not allowed, but a lower starting price generates more interest than if you start your bidding high, I thought it was harmless tactic but can see how it looks. I have a good Ebay rating and all the items I have sold via ebay have been as described and are genuine parts.

I don't think I'm really in the same league as those Japanese sellers who got arrested for selling cloned 2.7rs's as originals out of Japan via Ebay!...

The truth be told, antonslimited and manipou are not both my user names, i have explained this in another forum and cant be bothered to go into it again, but we have a close working relationship, yes Melv the 3.2 Porsche Buggy was mine too, awesome machine it was too, so much fun in the wet...Antons were storing it for me..Thanks Melv for your info though, I remember now why I didn't use you to deliver it, NO professional integrity......

Anyway, I am listed as a few peoples 'favorite buyers' and cant help if the same people bid on my auctions, they know me and/or are probably local and know that my items are genuine. That means I will have repeat customers.

I think I have even bought something from that American seller you bought from recently, are WE linked somehow then? I would guess no, its just a small circle of people thats all.

are the same Ebay user, as well as a few others that I cant remember right now and to be honest cant be bothered to look up. What is it Andy? one for buying, one for selling? So the buyer cant see what you paid for it? Just speculation but there is a lot of that on these boards....

By the way Andy, did you have any complaints when I paid top dollar for the momo steering wheel you sold me last month? I paid straight after the auction and even paid more when I realised that I didnt get the Porsche emblem centre in the deal. Not really the actions of a scammer is it? You repay me by posting incorrect info about me and my trusty local garage, calling us scammers etc all over the internet. Nice, thanks for that.

I don't look at my past bidders so I cant really comment on who has or hasn't bid on my items, at the end of the day my rating speaks for itself.

But the best bit is more than one person has linked me to rosieglossop and the engine she has for sale. I got the impression it is actually her boyfriends but...Sorry guys this one is nothing to do with me. Shame as I can only imagine that it would have harmed the sale. I did have a bid the first time around via my garage but it was not up to its description so the guy who went to look at it for me walked away...

Well ive gone on too much already, I just hope that ive put some cynics minds to rest, as for the remainder of you...well nothing lost I guess

Please explain why a question i asked via ebay to antonslimited was answered by none other than manipou. Clearly you forgot to logout of one username that you have before replying. Shame that. But it shows you for what you are. Dodgy.

Hence your assertion that you are not connected to the other ebay names is unlikely to be taken seriously.

There is nothing wrong with having two user names but using them to bid on your own itmes to create a false interest stinks.

I don't think it matters whether anyone believes one thing or another. As a buyer, the main concern is that you are buying an item that you are happy with, at a price you are happy with. As a seller, you are only concerned that the buyer pays promptly. Judging by manipou's feedback, he fits the bill on both counts. Why all the whinging? You don't have to buy anything you don't want to, and if the price is getting bid up - so what? Either don't bid anymore, or if you are happy with the price, stick with it! They are not tactics I find tasteful or would use myself however...but it goes on, so as always, buyer beware!

Hey, this is interesting. Handbags at dawn all round. Loads of interest on various forums(fora?) for ebay shennanigans. Personally I ve been kicked off (suspended) from ebay twice for suspect dealings but always argued my case and won. Loads of ebayers bid against themselves in one form or another, love it when the silly boys win their own items! Anyway...you chaps carry on an interesting discussion! Happy bidding...[]

Nigel, have you ever been to Christies, Coys, Brooks, Bonham's, or any similar auction house car auction? I do all the time, you should too. They call it plastic money as the vehicle owners and their friends bid on their own cars until the bid before the reserve. The bidding card is plastic hence the term. You don't realise that this practice is common and actually a benefit to people like you. Auction houses around the world 'set prices'. Can you imagine if someone put a 73 2.7rs up for sale and it only made £35K? People would suddenly realise that they actually aren't as rare as they first thought and the current ridiculously high prices would fall to a level that matches recent cars sold. Same applies to your currently over priced 2.4S. Look over the records you will be surprised at how many cars don't meet reserve but are only one bid away from being sold. So tell me again why does it stink?

Sabbath is a friend but please tell me what harm it is doing? The F1 passes he has for sale haven't even hit the reserve and how does that makes any of the items I sell dodgy? By the way we went to 3 rounds of 03/04 seasons F1 calender using those all access area 03/04 passes compliments of Bridgestone. They were amazing. Ebay's Terms and Conditions (which everyone signs up to) say this:

5.6 Manipulation. You must not manipulate the price of any item or interfere with other user's listing(s). Without limitation, you must not: (a) bid in a listing where you are the seller, or procure or encourage any person to do so on your behalf; (b) contact bidders in a listing where items are listed for sale in order to offer similar items to the bidders in that listing; or (c) make bids or make any payment using a false User ID.

In the help section it helpfully explains what Shill Bidding is, and says why it is not allowed (basically as above)

Oh thanks for the opinion on the values of 2.4s. I dont care what you think and its not for sale at any price. I bought it cos I wanted it not so I could make a quick buck.

What all this reveals about you is that you are more interested in £££'s than integrity. Anything you might have gained by shill bidding will in the long term be offset by the fact that many people wont trust you.
