Looking for recommendations for discs and pads for road use mostly. Best to go with original Porsche or aftermarket? If aftermarket, which ones specifically?

Discs/pads recommendations

I changed the front discs/pads/sensors on my 987.2/ 2.9 Boxster a few years ago. Bought the kit from Design911.
Car stops well with confidence, nor squeals or vibrations 16K miles later.
Car used only on road, no track events etc and gently driven as the wife is almost always with me.
Rears are getting close @ 83K miles, I'll do the same when due.
It is always worth asking the OPC Parts Dept for the cost of Porsche parts; sometimes the cost difference is not that great.

Hi Ben,
You could also have a look at the Type911 site for brake packages for your Cayman:
The official Porsche pads and discs will be expensive, but if you’re happy with aftermarket parts then I believe that Textar are Porsche’s brake pad supplier, and the Sebro brake discs are a good match.

I fitted Brembo discs/pads/sensors to the front of my 2014 Cayman 981. The squeal was horrendous (yes, I did grease the back of the pads with copper grease and bed them in). My independent Porsche specialist suggested that Brembo are prone to this and they always use Textar .
Just been through (and failed) to kill horrendous pad squeaks on my old 1973 911.
Have just tried the 3M stick backing sheets on the pads (Carbone pads) and the silence lasted 40 miles.
Now back to normal; you can sure hear me coming using the brakes, but the car actually stops. I used Textar pads on Sebro disc on the Boxster, all civilised!

I had Textar Pads and Sebro Discs fitted all round last year, on my 2011 gen 2 Cayman S. I chose them as both were at one time the suppliers to Porsche, I'm well satisfied and was certainly glad of them last year on the Autobahn when someone didn't check the outside lane before pulling out.
