The front bonnet is jammed shut, either cable has become disconnected or latch has somehow failed.

My specialist has played around with it and says the front compartment is like a nuclear bunker, and the only solution is to cut a big hole in the bonnet, thereby destroying it.

anybody got a better solution?
 
Have you taken the lever area to bits and tried pulling the cable as that area is prone to braking with age. If you take it apart and pull on the cable it should open.
 
Hi, just googled this, go on to Rennlist Forum a whole write up on there about it. If post 92 you will have emergency release cable behind wheel arch liner on left hand side. If before no cable but somone has written up how to release by removing a bung under wheelarch liner and releasing by using bent wire on to latch

When you take the lever apart you need to hold the outer sheath with some pliers, taking care not to crush it, and then pull on the inner cable.

Just pulling on the cable will not release it.

Was about to mention this, I seem to remember there was a thread on this very issue some years ago.

A specialist who's solution is punching a hole in the bonnet doesn't appear to be particularly specialist to me. I have feeling this happened to me, come to think of it, I may even have started that thread! :ROFLMAO:
