digital clock

The clock on my S2 is working but is no longer backlit so is difficult to read in daylight, and is not illuminated by switching on the lights (so impossible to read at night!)

Is there a bulb that can be replaced and how do I get to it?

Your post makes it seem a lot less complicated than the Clarks one - thanks! Perhaps I might give it a go, is Porscha-Part the best place to go looking for replacement clocks?

The backlight in mine has gone too, but the clock is in such a dumb place that even if it was lit, it would be awkward to see it.

I just use my watch too [:)]

Ifyou want a clock in a more accessable place you could go down the 968 route and fit the clock that sits in the cubby hole under the stereo.

If anybody wants to get rid of their non illuminating clock I need a new one as my display has gone.

the digital numbers on my clock only half work(only the top half) but to be honest its only my passangers that are in a position to see it anyway.

Mine has gone too... I use a watch but it would be nice to get a replacement for completeness.

Oh joy; thank you all esp Timig and Diver944.

I'll need to set some time aside to do the job then so will let you all know how it goes, in due course...

A working and illuminated clock is a joy to behold. Only true 944 afficianados posses them (just like auto lifting tailgates [;)])

On a side note the clock actually dims when you switch the headlights on, so that you don't get dazzled by its gloriously illuminated timekeeping [:)]

I agree with Paul, my clock and tailgate work a tread (for now at least)! The tailgate is especailly trick. I was wondering has anyone connected a remote alarm to their tailgate switch? It would be very cool to walk upto your car in Sainsbury's car park with a trolley full of shopping and open your tailgate from 10 feet away!!

Does anyone know anything about the A/F ration guage in Chris Denton's link? Is it only the CAT fitted cars that have an O2 sensor?

Yes, only the CAT equipped cars have an O2 sensor but they are easily retrofitted as Graeme says.

Back to the clock issue, if you do remove the clock to change the bulb you will come across the legendary 'unknown pipe' which kept members of Titanic 944 amused for many hours about five years ago.

Ahhhh nostalgia [8|]

the tailgate on my cars been known to open on the way to tescos. antisapation[;)]

is there an alternative to the digital clock ? cos according to the cars records its now on its third replacment clock

The 968 has an external temperature display in that position. It may be worth ringing a few breakers to see if they have any, but I imagine that as 968s are so rare compared to 944s that it will be even harder to get a temperature display than it is to get a clock [:(]

Plus you'd also need to get a probe fitted to read the temperature anyway [8|]

Has anyone ever found out if you can replace the LCD screen on clock or if any other VW clock fits?
